A drama filled candy: Pixy Stix

Before we get into it, I want to thank all of you for your support after reading the last story here about what happened last month. I feel the love and cannot even begin to express how much it means. The sweet and motivating words, donations, and orders from my shop have truly helped bring light into a dark time. Thank you, thank you.

Alright, let’s do it.

As many know, one of the fastest ways to consume powdery sugar all at once is with Pixy Stix. Initially beginning as a drink mix, the candy worked its way into becoming a ruiner of Halloween and was eventually banned in some schools for concerns about motivating drug use.

With no intention of Pixy Stix becoming a candy, the powdered mix was first placed into a paper straw during The Great Depression in the 1930s. Kool-Aid was created a few years earlier to reduce shipping costs with a lightweight powder. It was affordable and stretched an almost nonexistent budget while sugar was being rationed for WWII.
