About - Mouthful by Maya
Hello and thank you for being here! I’m Maya Greenfeld, a New York City-based personal chef, recipe tester/developer/editor, and now the author of this newsletter, Mouthful by Maya — a space to share my favorite dishes that I’m cooking for my clients. While we may veer into subjects other than personal cheffing, the content will always revolve around food. It’s the essence of our being and both my livelihood and passion! I feel so grateful to be able to do what I love for a living, and I’m excited to give you a glimpse into my working (and playing) life because truly, the line between the two is blurry.
I started my culinary career as a prep cook at Misi in Brooklyn — the summer after they first opened, when THE famed ricotta toast was all the rage! After graduating from Wake Forest University in 2021, I landed a job as a line cook at the unabashedly seasonal King in SoHo, a restaurant with a daily changing menu. I worked there for over a year, having a hand in blanching spinach, cooking borlotti beans, confiting duck, and everything else under the sun. Most recently, I graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in their Health Supportive program and completed my externship in the test kitchen at Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon. These big experiences, sprinkled with many smaller experiences, have shaped my culinary career so far and I’m forever grateful for each and every one of them.
Enjoy reading — I hope to inspire you in your own kitchen!
xx, Maya
