About - The India Uncut Newsletter
Hey, my name is Amit Varma.
If you have landed up on this page, it is probably because you are familiar with my previous work. I used to run a blog called India Uncut between 2004 and 2009. (It has since become dormant, and I use it now to archive my published pieces.) I now host a long-form interview podcast called The Seen and the Unseen, and teach an online writing course called The Art of Clear Writing.
Besides being a blogger and a podcaster, I have also been a columnist, a sportswriter and a professional poker player. I’ve written one mediocre book, but plan to redeem myself soon. And I want to write more now, stretch my writing muscle, write as I please, and not be bound by the constraints of publications and house styles.
That’s what this newsletter is about. I will write about India, economics, politics, sports, philosophy, liberty — and about writing itself.
