Breaking: LCS Players Vote to Walkout
The LCS Players Association announced late Sunday evening that players “overwhelmingly” voted on a walkout:
What was not disclosed was the vote tally, which would have indicated one way or the other just how many players actually voted for it and if that number was overwhelmingly for the measure.
Employees have legal rights under the law in most states to stage a walkout, and 1099 or contracted players probably have broader rights in progressive states like California, but mileage probably varies in other states.
This vote is not great news for Riot, and frankly for ticket holders who expected to go to a live event on Thursday… but who takes the heat for it remains to be seen.
The NALCSPA promises to negotiate a solution, but the question is, where is Riot in this? Will they meet the player demands or will they be willing to watch some things burn? We hope to have some answers soon. - James Fudge.
