Chelsea deserved to beat Man City but similar story resurfaces
Chelsea narrowly lost to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley this afternoon after a late winning goal from Bernardo Silva in the 84th minute.
The goal felt inevitable in the end, because if you do not take your chances against a team like City, you know they have the capabilities and quality to punish you.
City were poor, and they looked rather hungover from the Champions League in the week. We knew this could be a benefit for us to exploit, and we very much did that for large parts of the game.
We actually deserved to win this one in my opinion, or at the very least didn’t deserve to lose. We more than matched City in intensity, control, physicality, effort, pressing, and attacking threat and in fact in the latter, we were actually better.
Chelsea had many clear chances to score and unfortunately it is a similar story that reoccurs for us, we missed them. Nicolas Jackson has to hold his hands up and take responsibility for missing at least two fairly easy chances.
Like I say, if you don’t take your chances at this level, you will not win, and that’s literally how this game went.
