Chyna and My Biggest Problem

I can’t believe it’s already another Tuesdaaaaay! (Ahem. 5 days ago.)

Currently in the Florida panhandle right by the ocean on a family trip. We’re celebrating my parents’ 50th Anniversary!

What’s their secret? Well, if their video appearances are any indication, it’s probably all the frantically scrolling on the phone and reading weird things at the kitchen table while they yell at each other.

Anyhoo, this trip is the excuse I’m using for why I’m late on this newsletter. Now then…

Cooking. Our biggest problem is cooking at home. We already discussed it briefly in this video, but my next video is also all about it (coming this Friday).

What’s the big deal? Is eating out at restaurants a problem?

For us, it is, especially because we eat out WAY too much. And it leads to our child eating a lot of plain hamburgers because she doesn’t like much else on the menu.

But basically, it comes down to (in order of importance for us)

  • Health

  • Money

  • The possibility of enjoying a new skill

  • In the video, we will discuss each of these things in-depth, and they’re definitely debatable. It’s not necessarily true that cooking at home is healthier or cheaper, but it does give you more control.

We ultimately decided that we’re going to eat only home-cooked meals for a month as a challenge to fix our habits (and make another video about it, of course).

For me, I really hope to get more comfortable with cooking so that I do it more often. It’s one thing I’ve never genuinely tried to do well. I’ve never had much interest in it. And because of that, I have little knowledge in the kitchen.

But learning why people like stuff is my thing! So my next great frontier is going to be cooking.

Move over Chef Gordon Ramsey! (and then cook way better stuff than me over there) It’s cookin’ time!

I recently tweeted my plans for videos for the rest of the year. Subject to change of course. But here they are:

    1) Chyna & My Biggest Problem (up next week!)
    2) Why I WON’T do Keto
    3) Diaphragmatic Breathing (Belly Breathing)
    4) Learning the Splits in a Month
    5) Only Eating home-cooked Meals Everyday
    6) Quitting Smartphone For a Year

Have a great week! (or 2 days, if I’m able to send the next newsletter on Tuesday)
