Clearest Beginnings - by Jun Yuh

For the last three years, I have been doing social media on the side while my primary focus was on doing my best as a biomedical engineering BS/MS student. I’ve gotten some very cool opportunities in relation to my studies including working at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) as well as West Pharmaceutical Services.
At GSK, I served as part of the automation team in small molecule drug discovery where we utilized automated platforms to conduct high throughput experimentation (I will explain this in another post for the nerds like me out there if any of you are interested). At West, I worked for the container systems team where I aided in the development of anything drugs come in such as vials, cartridges, syringes, etc.
I have had a lot of success academically as well with a 3.74 GPA earning me a spot on the dean’s list along with the other top performers in my discipline. Recently I also took on a neuroengineering concentration as my grandmother struggles with dementia and I wanted to be a part of that solution one day.
With all of this being said, I have had the most fun hanging out with you. Funny enough, I was the type to not touch any social media till my second year of college when I began as a creator and I’ve fallen in love with it more and more each day. I wanted to be a biomedical engineering to have a positive impact on people’s lives, but through my early corporation experiences, I’ve realized that you play such a small role in a very large pipeline and many times do not get to see the fruits of your labor in terms of your impact on others.
With social media, I get to see my impact every day through my conversations with you guys and I genuinely could not be happier. Thank you.
Recently I’ve won Drexel’s Entrepreneurship Co-op Award which enables me for 6 months to focus on developing my own business. After a lot of thought, I have decided I wanted to give social media my full swing. Yes, I have 379K+ followers on Instagram and 1.4M+ on TikTok, but I want to provide as much depth to me as a creator, friend, older-brother, and supporter as possible. I will be doing that through this newsletter providing weekly advice on developing YOUR productivity skills, study techniques, personal social media accounts, as well as motivational/biblical messages! I will also be starting to post long form content on my youtube channel @jun_yuh starting NEXT WEEK!! ALL FOR FREE.
For those who do not know yet, I also run a social media marketing agency where I have developed companies develop their social media accounts. Therefore, not only have I built my own personal platforms but I also have the experience building companies’ from scratch too. I’ve always wanted to give back to all of you and with SO MUCH VALUE that comes from being a creator in today’s economy, I think this will be a perfect way to do just that (again, for free).
This week’s quick value.
Whether it’s with school, a job, new entrepreneurial endeavor, or social media, I would highly suggest you consider your purpose. We all look for motivation and inspiration but those are both based on emotions, and if we know anything about emotions, it’s that they ebb and flow. Therefore if you are basing your trajectory in life in terms of where you want to go and what you were called to achieve on solely those two things, you are in for a VERY rough ride.
Then the other crowd will say “then it must be discipline, right?” Well, kind of. Discipline is very important, but good luck getting someone who has never practiced it before to listen to you. Rather, take it another step back and begin in the mind first. Why do you do what you do? Start there.
It’s uncomfortable and very challenging but only when you can identify your purpose as something greater than you can you withstand life’s hardships. If you only serve yourself, I GUARANTEE life will throw something your way much bigger than you and it will be hard, perhaps impossible, to overcome it.
Sometimes, we take on too much because frankly we are used to it with our busy lives. I think this describes me perfectly. I had all these different ideas for what I should be doing these next 6 months, but that can really blur your focus. I now know what I want to do more than anything else in this world: focus on my platforms and provide you with as much value as possible. Here’s to the CLEAREST beginnings (wine glass toast).
