Cole Palmer: The stats...... - by Luke Rushbrook
Good Afternoon Ladies and Gents,
Today I just wanted to take a look into Cole Palmer’s season so far and how insane his numbers have been.
Since joining Chelsea from Man City at the end of August Cole has started 24 league games, whilst being a used sub for a further 4 accumulating 28 appearances. In those 28 appearances he has been involved in 29 goals, scoring 20 and assisting 9.
At his current pace he is averaging a goal involvement once every 72 minutes in the premier league this season, which is absolutely frightening, this is the best in the division by some way.
His Goal conversion rate is at 33% meaning he scores 1 goal every 3 shots he takes which is only bettered by Alexander Isak and Chris Wood of players to have scored 10 or more goals. His Shot Accuracy rate is 67% meaning he hits the target twice in every 3 shots he takes, this is matched by Isak & Diogo Jota and only bettered by Phil Foden and Chris Wood (Again!!!)
He is creating chances for fun to, he has created 43 chances at a rate f one chance created every 49 minutes and 1.54 chances created per 90 mins. He has a pass accuracy of 83%.
He has already received an individual honour this season, winning London Football Awards ‘Young Player of the Season’ and it could be safe to say that he will win April’s PL player of the month award considering he has already got 8 goal involvements in 3 games, an award that he was robbed of in March, in my opinion.
In his last 14 league appearances he has 22 goal involvements which is absolutely phenomenal, the stats go on and on with this young man!
He has a real argument to win both the PFA YPOTY & PFA POTY awards this season, it is incredibly unlikely he wins both, but nobody can argue that he should be the favourite win the young award at minimum, as well as both the Club POTY & YPOTY which are probably already a given.
He is also in with a massive shout of winning the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker awards for Goals and Assists respectively. The only player to ever win both in one season is Harry Kane, and the last Chelsea player to win either was Eden Hazard in 2018/19 I believe.
Not that Cole ‘Cold’ Palmer needed any flowers or love from the Chelsea community but I just wanted to give him the utmost praise and to do that factually by numbers is absolutely insane, he has been a masterstroke signing and the best for a very very long time.
Thank you all for reading!
