[ENG] Rammstein: The case of Shelby Lynn
Note: This is mostly an automatic translation using deepl.com, some quotes may have been translated back differently. Not all passages and links have been checked yet. The original report may be more up to date.
Based on multiple allegations in social media around inconsistency in Shelby Lynn's statements, the question arises whether such allegations correspond to the facts and whether these inconsistencies exist. Since her statements and allegations in the accusations against Till Lindemann and Rammstein have been quoted publicly many times and have triggered an avalanche of suspicious reporting, an answer to this question appears to be of fundamental interest. While in other cases one can only read the possibly abbreviated or simplified accounts (possibly even false ones, as indicated by initial court decisions) in the media, in the case of Shelby Lynn the peculiarity arises that here her statements were not only available directly from first-hand experience, but also in real time just a few hours after the alleged offenses. Therefore, the purpose of this report is to compile as comprehensively as possible a kind of documentation, chronology and analysis, with consideration of possible contradictions, in the social media development of Shelby Lynn and her allegations. There will be no discussion of moral issues or what is "the truth", nor is it the goal of the report to pass judgment or take sides.
The report consists of six parts in total, it is not recommended to jump directly to the "TLDR" to avoid possibly misunderstanding individual statements out of context.
As far as possible all primary sources are linked directly, in some cases, such as temporary Instagram stories only screenshots of third parties are available. Furthermore, it cannot be ruled out that, for example, further Instagram posts and tweets exist that have already been deleted or made private at the time of writing this report and thus an incomplete picture is presented.
It should be self-evident, but here explicitly mentioned again:
Do not harass involved persons!
In the course of the research, some posts on pro-Rammstein Instagram accounts were found, which are very similar in content, partly identical, but some are also contradictory. It should be clarified that there are no connections to these accounts, Lindemann, Rammstein or Shelby Lynn, as well as no conflicts of interest. This report is purely on the public, available sources and is from pure initiative and curiosity about the dynamics in social networks and the media.
Note (19.08.2023):
At the moment it seems impossible to bring the Instagram chapter to a satisfactory, final end due to Lynn's continuous activity with hundreds of posts until today. Current events will probably be added there in due course.
Most of the media and even Wikipedia report that Shelby Lynn published the allegations on Twitter and Instagram, which were published there only two days after the concert. However, most people do not know that Lynn was already active on Reddit in the early morning after the concert and gave interesting insights there from today's perspective.
At 4:54 a.m. local time, about five and a half hours after the end of the concert in Vilnius, a thread appeared on Reddit written by Shelby Lynn (as it will turn out later) with the title "Fuck Rammstein" and a picture of a hematoma on her hip along with the text "Spiked, no idea when this happened".
The corresponding text was deleted in the following days, but is available in the web archive. Here Lynn wrote that Till Lindemann had wanted to have sex with her during the concert break [Deutschland remix/DJ set is meant here], which she had refused, whereupon he should have been quite angry at her. Furthermore, she would have drunk alcohol the last time at 5:30pm, but would still be completely destroyed. She accuses Rammstein of having spiked her at the pre-party. She had only two drinks that day and "I'm Irish, I can drink", but couldn't even remember the concert.
"Do not go to row 0"
Most of the reactions, for the fact that it was the fan subreddit, were actually positive and supportive. Many tried to convince Lynn that she should go to the police or hospital immediately to get toxicology tests and evidence as soon as possible. But for some reason, she largely ignored that [1, 2, 3] and countered that she wanted to talk to her mum first and she was afraid the authorities didn't understand English.
On the many comments that she was in a big tourist city, that the police could speak English or had a translator at hand, that she could contact the embassy and that the detection of drugs, KO drops or the like was time-critical, Lynn did not respond at all at first, although the timing of other answers from her revealed that she was active all the time.
In further replies, Lynn revealed several more details that were largely ignored in the media coverage. Within minutes after creating the thread, she wrote, "I am so silly for not believing the rumours".
Since Lynn has been on Reddit since 2020 and has been an active participant in the Rammstein subreddit herself since October 2022, and since Lindemann's after-parties, Row Zero and Alena Makeeva's role have been discussed several times during that time, she confirms with the reference to the rumors that she was aware of them. As it will turn out later, Lynn also proactively contacted Makeeva to get into the after-party and thus to Row Zero, more on that later.
Less than an hour later, Lynn picked this up again, when asked about Row Zero, she wrote "Well now I know the truth," making it appear that she had prior suspicions that have now been confirmed.
And "I have so much to say", a very interesting statement, for not remembering the concert, being drugged and thus the victim of a crime, while at the same time refraining from contacting the authorities first. Written with a clarity and awareness around the rumors, just a few hours after the concert even ended.
When asked why she posted on Reddit first and didn't go to the authorities, she replied that she wanted to warn other women and she needed to tell people "while it's still fresh in my mind," also a completely diametric statement to the later statement that she couldn't remember anything.
She has also contacted her sister and her best friend. And as she emphasizes several times, she would never take drugs, she would always try to behave safely, especially when she was in another country. The claim that she wants to warn other women seems like a strange priority at this point - the next Rammstein concert will take place only five days later in Helsinki. It also seems contradictory that she writes that she had already documented everything, because she needed proof in order not to appear as a crazy fangirl.
The fact that Lynn thought extensively about documenting everything, although she did not even consider going to the police at first, raises questions about her motives. Also, when asked if she had already been checked at the hospital, she replies that she had not even thought about it.
Only after she had already written (the chronological order of the replies reveal their time stamps) that she documented everything but did not think of getting checked out, Lynn for the first time agrees to inform the police and writes, "You know what you are right. I will report it ASAP”.
Another contradiction is evident in Lynn's response to another woman's statement, who has been added to a row 0 group chat. She should run [from row 0], she should go to the concert normally, and "I promise you will have the best time".
So Lynn is making a promise here that the person will then have the best experience of the show. Curiously, to a show to which she herself testified that she could not remember anything. In the same answer she continues to report that strangers helped her to get home and to the hotel, Lynn obviously also has concrete memories about this.
Joe Letz (assistant to Lindemann) had asked Lynn at the pre-party (as she will later add on Twitter), "Why me? Why under the stage, is this a sex thing?", to which he said "No, nothing like that, just to meet you hang out", to which she said "Okay yeah sure".
Despite the claimed memory loss, Lynn specifies what happened during the concert. During the short break she was with Lindemann in a tiny room, like in a dressing room and completely black. She had told him directly that if he was here for sex, she didn't want that, because sex was special for her. He would have replied angrily that Joe had said that she wanted that.
Here it immediately becomes clear that Lindemann himself was lied to by Letz and that it is much more likely that his anger was directed at Letz and not at Lynn personally, as suggested by her. After Lynn reemphasized her statement, both left the room, and she was told to wait by Lindemann, then she leaves the area under the stage after 10 minutes. Interestingly, a detailed account, although, as originally mentioned, she could not remember the concert.
Note: A room like this, which will later be referred to in the media as the "Suck Box", is common in many professional stage constructions and is used for "quick change", i.e. changing stage outfits or props during the show. The fact that this is described as looking like a dressing room and completely black is also no surprise here. Black molleton, a flame retardant fabric with beneficial light and sound absorption, is the absolute norm in stage construction.
Around noon, Lynn responds to a question about her condition by saying she can't remember "anything after 9 p.m." - which is an exacerbation of the original statement that she can't remember the concert itself.
This is countered here in particular by the fact that she seems to remember other events clearly. For example, she had seen "shocking" videos of Till actually having sex (as will later turn out, it was very likely Till The End, a very explicit but professional music video by Zoran Bihać), which was shown to her by another woman at the after-party. About this party, she herself clarifies again that cell phones would have been allowed.
She would have seen furthermore how Lindemann destroyed five whiskey glasses (however without assignment to the pre- or after-party). Lynn also reports about a woman who was beaten so hard by a band member the Saturday before (rehearsal show for fan club members) that she (for whatever reason she would then go to the party again) would now need strong makeup (inquiries about this were not answered by Lynn). These are all very many and varied details for a presumed drug or KO drop induced memory loss.
Although Lynn emphasizes several times how bad she is and that she can't even get up, she writes that as soon as the stores open in two hours, she will try to find a drug test kit herself - which doesn't seem to have happened. It was not until around 3 p.m. local time that Lynn reported that she had contacted the police and ambulance, and that the police were currently on their way to her.
In parallel to her original Twitter thread, Lynn opened a second thread at 7:00 a.m. local time, with a screenshot of a Whatsapp chat and the title "further evidence here."
On the screenshot you can see a Whatsapp group called "Rammstein Vilnius 2023", where an Alyona (Russian original form of Alena) wishes everyone a great show, calls on them to tag her [on Instagram] if they post something and that unfortunately she can't be there, because she would join the tour only in Helsinki. So here they are actively promoting posting on social media, including a link to the organizer's full account name. Highly contradictory for suspected illegal activity at this point. Lynn, who provided no additional explanation, probably wanted to draw attention to the last visible message of the screenshot. An Anesthesia writes to Joe Letz in the group chat, "They don't let us out" which may sound dramatic at first, but is also accompanied by a smiley face with a tear.
To a question if she is this Anesthesia and what the last message may mean, Lynn answers and reveals here for the first time her real name, no, her name is Shelby. The message was sent at a time after she had already left the party and she doesn't know what happened, but she hopes she [Anesthesia] is okay.
Considering that Lynn's intention to go public at all was to warn other women - she herself also writes that she hopes Anesthesia is doing well - the question immediately arises why she did not simply contact the affected woman personally. That would have been possible within seconds via the WhatsApp contact. With the danger and concern for the women suspected by Lynn, it seems even grossly negligent that she had completely refrained from it.
Particularly noteworthy about the screenshot are the times shown. First, the screenshot was captured at 04:28 am, half an hour before Lynn even wrote her first Reddit thread. So it must have been the extensive documenting that Lynn will mention in the first thread. Secondly, the message from Anesthesia was written at exactly 00:00, meaning Lynn is stating here that she left the after-party before midnight. The detail is also worth mentioning because according to setlist.fm the concert started at 9:05pm and ended at 11:25pm (the concert length is also confirmed by Youtube recordings).
Based on the fact that the group had to be led to the after-party and Lynn was already gone at midnight, it can be concluded that Lynn could not have been at the after-party for more than about 30 minutes according to her statements. On Twitter she will later write that they had already left the Row Zero two songs before the end (so about 8 minutes before), so that her presence can be estimated at about 40 minutes, the actual presence together with other band members would be significantly less. Later it will turn out that there will be a contradiction whether she will leave the after-party before midnight or around 2:00 am.
The resolution of the last sentence in the group chat then came from the presumed Anesthesia herself. She also notes that she could have simply asked before publishing something she didn't know about - Lynn had her contact. She goes on to explain that there were two after-parties. One after-party where everyone could come in and out and a second one where you could only come in with someone with permission (the second one is presumably Lindemann's own after-party). Here she describes that there were misunderstandings with the security guards and it was not possible for her to change from the second to the first party, despite Joe Letz's assurance that this was possible. This is what the specific WhatsApp group message was about.
Further, she addresses the allegations and states that everyone drank from the same bottles and everyone else had no impairments like Lynn. Whether this is really the said Anesthesia is not apparent. However, since the account is older and thus not specially created for this, the explanation seems conclusive. However, the WhatsApp screenshot alone also makes it clear that the real person had access to their own smartphone and thus any form of the "captivity" Lynn suspects can be ruled out.
The day after, on May 24, Lynn then starts a third Reddit thread. In the title she speaks of herself in third person: "Update on a [s]piked girl (me)". Again, the original text can only be found in the Internet Archive.
Here she confirms that she had contact with the police, that an ambulance came to her hotel room and that she took a drug test, but without a positive result. She mentions Instagram Stories and videos from third parties, which in her view are a sign that something must have been wrong with her. Again, it is emphasized that she never takes drugs and doesn't drink much either (remember the original statement "I'm Irish, I can drink").
In the comments on this, she corrects the times and explains her alcohol consumption at the pre-party. She had two drinks, a small vodka, a prosecco and Till gave all the women a tequila shot. This had happened at 8 p.m. and not at 5:30 p.m. as previously reported, after about 8:30 p.m. she would not remember anything at all. Actually, she could drink much more than that without feeling anything - again a small inconsistency to the statement just made that she actually did not drink much at all.
She will not be able to write more on Reddit, because the moderation will become active here as well and close the thread. Lynn received a 90-day ban for failing to provide legal or medical evidence. She responded very little and selectively to legitimate, critical inquiries in all three threads. From here on, Lynn shifts her activity to Twitter and Instagram.
It's worth taking another look at Lynn's earlier Reddit activity here, before she posted the allegations. For example, there is a post from December 2022 in which Lynn states that Lexapro, an antidepressant, completely changed her life.
Significant here are the side effects, such as nausea, digestive problems, sleeplessness and restlessness, muscle tremors, but also the symptoms of abrupt withdrawal, as can be the case, for example, when forgetting or deliberately omitting the medication: "muscle tension (44%), chills (44%), confusion or trouble concentrating (40%), amnesia (28%), and crying (28%)". Likewise, caution should always be exercised when consuming antidepressants together with alcohol, as the effects and side effects can reinforce each other. A maximum of one alcoholic drink is recommended for women, which is equivalent to one shot glass for a high-proof product. Lynn, however, drank one vodka (mixed with Red Bull, she will later say), one prosecco and one tequila at the pre-party, which is at least three times the amount.
Mixing Lexapro with caffeine is considered safe, but caution is advised with higher doses, such as in energy drinks, which, like the combination with alcohol, can cause serotonin syndrome in rare cases. Symptoms of the syndrome include motor overreactions, insomnia, mental confusion, nausea and diarrhea, for example.
In the context of her alcohol consumption, Lynn also does not report eating solid food at any point in the evening, only eating a pizza at noon around 12:30 p.m., as she will write on Instagram many days later.
In another Reddit post about a My Chemical Romance concert, she asked when you had to be there to get to the front, this is where she really wanted to go. In the aftermath of the concert, she reports that she begged the band to throw a setlist into the audience and that she took an elbow trying to get a guitar pick. Here we see that Lynn can be very emotionally invested in a fandom, also showing an affinity for being in close proximity to prominent people and revealing a tendency towards trophies in the form of setlists, guitar picks, or the like.
Another post on Reddit represents a video contribution by Lynn herself, in which she dances to Korn's music with clearly overdrawn, impulsive movements, comparable to those later seen in videos from the Rammstein concert.
A second video of this kind, which probably also originated on TikTok, is circulating on Twitter.
Finally, in a post from October 2022 Lynn writes about the Rammstein concert in Lithuania, that she's not only heavily invested financially, but also announces "I am gonna fucking live it up, you only live once".
Furthermore, she created a Reddit thread in November 2022 in which she presented her Spotify statistics. Among the top 12 songs shown are eight Rammstein and one Lindemann song, including Sehnsucht, Pussy and Sonne.
On the night of May 24-25, Shelby Lynn announced the release of photos and videos to support her claims with a specially created account on Twitter:
In the tweet and account description, it initially appears that Lynn has already defused her allegations, saying she was drugged "at Rammstein" and not "by Rammstein". However, initial retweets with screenshots show that she initially still insinuated the latter in her account info, as she had previously done on Reddit:
It is no longer possible to determine whether this was also the case in her original tweet itself, as it was not until days later that the tweet and her account were recorded in the Internet Archive.
Her initial tweet is followed by a video in which she claims she was stumbling around and Joe Letz was preventing security from intervening. However, the video itself doesn't show that at all. You can only see Lynn posing for a photo with another woman and Letz walking by in the background between the women and a security guard, briefly glancing at Lynn.
However, the security guard looks in a completely different direction at the end of the video, Letz does not address her or Lynn at all. The video itself is also only three seconds long, as can be seen in the gallery view at the bottom of the video. After that follows another video where she poses for a picture with the same woman, this time towards the stage, and Lynn writes about it again that you can see here that something is wrong with her. However, also here her behavior does not differ at all from other present women or stands out by any conspicuousness.
This is followed by a series of short videos (Tweet 1, Tweet 2) that she recorded during the concert, with the focus mostly alternating between the stage and herself singing along. On display here is a buzzed Lynn who seems to be celebrating the music and singing along. The videos give the normal impression of a drunk person euphorically singing along to lyrics whose language she does not speak or understand.
These videos further provide a possible theory for the origin of her hematoma. On a video together with another woman it is clearly visible that the edge of the stage was directly at her hip level. Also visible here is that the women were positioned on the far right side facing the stage. In order to look at the center of the stage, one has to turn to the left so that the contact surface to the edge of the stage is on the right side of the hip.
This angle and the position directly at the edge of the stage is also confirmed by her other videos [1, 2, 3] and coincides exactly with the location of the hematoma.
This may be complete coincidence here, but her partly impulsive movements to the music provide a possible and plausible explanation here.
Afterwards Lynn shows a video in which she films herself during the concert and tells that Lindemann wanted to have sex with her. In the background Du riechst so gut is played. From a continuously recorded concert recording it is clear here that the video was recorded only an hour later after the Deutschland remix, where this had happened. Other videos, where Lynn then seems to party to the music again, were recorded even later, for example during Pussy.
In addition, Lynn shows on Twitter a picture of a drug test as proof that one was taken, pictures of the VIP ticket and wristband, and a video of the after-party itself to show that she had been there.
The drug test packaging can be used to determine exactly what test was taken. It is a rapid urine test that tests for 10 classes of substances: Amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana/hashish, metamphetamines, methadone, tricyclic antidepressants (Lexapro does not belong in this class), and ecstasy.
‘“Spiked” can be understood to include a wide variety of different drugs, including many of those mentioned in the test. The class of benzodiazepines includes, for example, Rohypnol, probably the drug best known as a knockout drop. Rohypnol has a half-life (the time after which half of the substance has been broken down by the body) of 18 to 26 hours and is detectable in urine tests from 60 hours to 28 days, depending on their quality. According to Lynn, the test was taken during the afternoon on May 23, between 16 to 20 hours after the pre-party and thus still well within the window of detectability with simple tests. Lynn later suspects it was GHB and therefore, due to the short detectability period, the test would have been negative. While the difficult detectability is correct, GHB does not belong to any class of substances tested for at all. However, a typical characteristic of a drink administered with GHB is a salty taste; nothing like this was ever reported by Lynn. In the image of the drug test, it is noticeable that the results themselves are not shown at all. However, in close-up, one can see that the first test on the far right shows a double bar. However, according to the Lithuanian description, this is evidence of a negative test result, in contrast to Covid tests, for example. In addition, we again refer to the video in which she reports on the scene under the stage. Here Lynn zooms in on her face several times, showing a normal reaction of the pupils and no drug-typical abnormality.
Lynn goes on to describe the process of how she got to Row Zero. She had written to Makeeva herself asking how to get to the after-party, although it should be emphasized that she explicitly asked about the after-party and not Row Zero. This fact, along with the alcohol consumption itself, seems particularly curious compared to her statements on Reddit, according to which she was already aware of rumors and also wanted to be particularly safe abroad. Furthermore, she writes that they had to hand over their cell phones at the pre-party and that Letz told them that their job was to be hyped, to have a drink and that "we want good energy". Lynn then reports herself saying that this was just her thing. "I’m that girl! I'm Irish I get the party started". By this she said she meant that she was very confident to sing along, dance and drink.
On the one hand she describes here herself already anticipating exactly what will be seen on the concert videos of her, on the other hand this contradicts again her original spread image of herself that she herself does not drink much and wants to behave safely.
Lynn then describes that she poured herself Vodka-Energy and then had another Prosecco. After a while, Joe Letz appeared and picked her out, telling her that Till wanted to meet her, to which Lynn asked directly, "Why? Why me? Is this a sex thing?". Letz replied "No, nothing like that, Till is the perfect gentleman", to which Lynn asked again "Be honest with me. Please. Is this sex and is he actually aggressive?". Based on the extremely specific question, it is obvious here that Lynn seemed to have very specific assumptions beforehand.
Letz denied the inquiry again, saying it was about hanging out under the stage for 5 minutes during the DJ interval. After that, another woman asked Lynn what it was about and then told her "don’t go, he does want sex" and Lynn told her that "whatever I says" to stop her from going under the stage, which the other woman assured her she would do. This assurance is surprising in that Lynn herself seems to expect to have changed her mind by then, not to remember it later, or not to be in a state to properly assess the situation.
Shortly after that, Lindemann joined them, poured them all tequila shots from a bottle and also destroyed several whiskey glasses. This had been around 8 p.m., Lindemann had then left the room and then the show had started. From then on, Lynn writes here this time at about 8:30 p.m., her memories were gone - on Reddit she originally wrote from 9 p.m. she could no longer remember. The difference may sound like only a slight confusion at first, but it is actually relevant, since 9 p.m. would have been before the immediate start of the concert. However, Lynn is also accompanied by many other women until the concert, including the woman who assured to take care of her. Lynn then goes on to describe herself as a human zombie, singing, dancing, stumbling, time would fly by and the DJ set would have come. Here it is also striking again that she remembers her own behavior despite presumed memory loss. The fact that time seems to fly by is also not an unusual sensation when you as a spectator are euphoric - or in an alcoholic stupor - at something, especially since the DJ set after 45 minutes is temporally in the first third of the show anyway.
Joe Letz then led her under the stage, and the woman who promised not to let her go there tried in vain to stop her (one can also assume at this point that this woman had been watching her until then). After that, the same situation is described as already on Reddit, this time additionally with the following dialogue with Joe Letz, in which she accuses him of having lied to her and that Till is now mad at her.
Letz had appeased her, saying that he would take care of it, that it was his fault, and that he then led her back to Row 0. Whether this is actually a misunderstanding between Lindemann and Letz, or whether Letz has presumably deceived Lynn, cannot be deduced from this. It should be noted here that she can remember the exact dialogue there as well. Two songs before the end (eight minutes before the actual end) all women had been led away to the right of the stage and next she would have been at the after-party. Here Richard Kruspe was present, as she also confirms with a video, smartphones were obviously allowed here.
Apart from two bottles of water, she had not drunk anything else either, stressing that she had had no other drinks - indirectly stating that she had no memory lapse about the after-party itself. Other women told Lynn their intimate stories they had with Lindemann, including "shocking stuff." Around 2:00 a.m., Lynn wanted to leave the party because she had been feeling pretty nauseous. One of the women then led her to the toilets, where she threw up. Afterwards, she tried to behave normally at the party, helped herself to the water bottles and then left the party. Two strangers helped her get home, waved a cab over and paid for it. At a later point on Twitter, Lynn refers to the statement of a friend who had just talked to her on the phone when she came out of a forest to a street and talked to two people, Lynn also mentions their male first names here. The forest is presumably the footpath from the backstage area to the next major road, the shortest distance is about 1 km according to Google Maps.
Another couple would have then helped her at the hotel to get a new room card, as she had lost her own. This is also where she first reports feeling a slight pain when leaving the venue and then noticing her bruises for the first time at the hotel.
Several things are striking in her narrative: first, it's immediately noticeable that the time here doesn't match the original information on Reddit, after she was already no longer at the venue at all according to the WhatsApp text message at midnight. A status screenshot that was taken at 07:36 and shows a time stamp of "before 7 a.m." is no contradiction.
Since such information is rounded down, the status must have been shared between 23:36 and 00:36, if the sharing of the status happened at all on the spot. However, since her first description of the after-party consisted of Richard Kruspe (white boot on the screenshot) sitting across from her, it is very likely that the video was made and shared right at the beginning of the after-party.
Furthermore, this also makes it clear that she was not at Lindemann's more exclusive after-party, which also fits with the lack of knowledge about the text message explained on Reddit. Likewise, Lynn explicitly remembers at what point they were led from the stage to the after-party, and it can be determined from her description that she must have consistent memories from the after-party to the hotel. She explicitly knows that she only drank water, heard other women's narratives, felt nauseous and vomited, and then left the party.
At the time of arrival at the hotel, Lynn also had the clear, retrospective memory that she had previously felt pain leaving the location. At this point, these are major contradictions to the original claims that she could not remember anything from 20:30-21:00. It can thus be stated that a possibly administered drug here would thus not have had a 3h effect time, further weakened by existing, precise memories in between. Again, Lynn also reports here women reporting "shocking experiences" but still repeatedly present at after-parties. Combined with her statement on Reddit about viewed videos and later screenshots on Instagram, it stands to reason that she seems to have mixed Till The End with the women's statements here. At this point, the question arises as to whether Lynn had any suspicion at all here of having been drugged. If she was informed here about suspected other stories and suspected herself to be or to become a victim of a suspected crime, it seems strange that there was no immediate escape behavior or any kind of fear or anxiety described by Lynn. Based on her other narrative, one must explicitly assume that the latter would definitely have been mentioned by Lynn and can infer that she had not yet suspected anything at all at the after-party. Even with Lynn's stated motive of warning other women, she could have directly informed the police in that case to prevent suspected, further acts even in flagrante delicto.
Another particularly big contradiction becomes clear when you take a close look at the very first video on Twitter. It is a video that was recorded before the actual concert and shows the women standing together and posing for pictures, with Joe Letz walking by in the background. Here it is clearly visible that Lynn is holding a 0.5L PET bottle with a blue lid and colored contents. Joe Letz and two other women also have such a bottle in their hands, one of them also with recognizably colored contents. The blond woman next to Lynn, who is later also interviewed as a witness, as well as Joe Letz have bottles whose contents appear transparent. Another woman has a drinking cup in her hand. Lynn has always emphasized that she only drank a little in the form of a small Vodka-Energy, Prosecco as well as Lindemann's Tequila Shot. The video, on the other hand, proves that this can't be true. What exactly Lynn really drank here is not clarified at any time, the color is at least typical for a Vodka-Energy mixed drink as she had drunk it before.
In a second video on Twitter, another woman also clearly shows such a bottle with colored contents. Here, a logo in the form of a drop of water can also be seen on the bottle, which confirms the assumption that homemade drinks were indeed bottled here.
In the rest of the Twitter history, Lynn reports that the woman who helped her at the party asked about her the day after and that she also reported that "this" had happened to her, as well as to a large number of her friends.
What exactly is meant by "this" or why she then took part in an after-party again is not explained, Lynn does not go into this anywhere else. This woman, together with another friend from the after-party, visited her in the hotel and took care of her, they talked to the reception and called the police and ambulance. Here an inconsistency turns out, because on Reddit Lynn has previously written that she herself had spoken with the police and ambulance. Since, according to the ambulance, only the police could conduct a drug test, but they did not have one on site, the friend organized a drug test at a pharmacy on the recommendation of the police, which turned out negative (addendum 16.05.2024: Lynn's drug use confirmed). Furthermore, she announces that as soon as she is at home she will go directly to the hospital and have a complete toxicological examination. Once at home, however, this will never happen; the hospital recommended that she go to the police to give forensic samples, because that would be the only thing that would stand up in court. The police, however, could not do anything because it did not happen in Northern Ireland. She would first have to file a report with the police in Lithuania, so that they could start an investigation and then request assistance from the police in Northern Ireland. For this purpose, a urine sample was given as a precautionary measure as possible evidence. Why she did not additionally have herself tested at the hospital to at least get some certainty for herself is an open question here.
From here, Lynn begins calling on others affected to contact her, sharing anonymous reports to do so, and by the next day, May 26, she is euphoric. "we can't stop this fight while there's still momentum. I will not stop ever, I will not stop until these girls voices are heard."
Much attention was paid to a tweet by Lynn a few days later, clarifying that Lindemann had not touched her. Criticism here was that she had previously shared articles according to which she would accuse Lindemann of actual sexual assault. Little discussed here is the contradiction that she has always shown her hematoma very presently, suggesting a violent assault, but here states bluntly that Lindemann did not touch her - so she must be sure that nothing of the sort happened at the after-party either.
Two more tweets are worth mentioning, first she shares search results about Alena Makeeva, which directly lead to discussions about Makeeva's role and the after-parties in the Rammstein subreddit. Since Lynn wanted to be invited to the after party and had proactively sought contact with Makeeva for this purpose, it is practically impossible that she did not also search for her beforehand and came across these discussions.
On the other hand, she corrects her original time statement that she left the party around midnight and not around 2:00 am. This is supported by a screenshot of two missed phone calls shortly after midnight. Lynn had called a cab for the ride home and suspected the driver had gotten lost, the cab was then canceled. A Twitter response does point out to Lynn that it may have actually been around 2:00 a.m. in Lithuania (UTC+3) in the morning, as the phone's time information adjusts to the time zone and the information on the screenshot corresponds to the Northern Ireland time zone (UTC+1). However, it is unclear when and where the screenshot was taken and whether all call apps react in the same way. The WhatsApp screenshot, which was clearly taken in Lithuania, with an independent WhatsApp message whose time stamp definitely adjusts to the local time zone, and her statement that she had already left the party before that, rather suggests that it must have been before midnight.
This results in two scenarios:
Assuming that both statements are correct, i.e., Lynn left the after-party before midnight, but she actually tried in vain to call a cab around 2:00 a.m. and was on the phone with her friend when she left the forest, this results in a time frame of 2 hours in which Lynn's whereabouts are unknown. The most obvious possibility here would be getting lost in the surrounding wooded area.
Assuming that Lynn was mistaken in her statement that she had already left the location at the time of the WhatsApp message and that she was present until 2:00 a.m., the question arises why she had not responded to this WhatsApp message. Because according to her, she had wanted to warn and protect other women, and after all, she found the message creepy enough to share it on Reddit as supposed proof, combined with a concern for the women, instead of simply asking the women directly via WhatsApp.
What needs to be explicitly stated at this point, however, is that at some point during the night Lynn walked this forest path alone.
Note: Since share links to status posts may receive personalized information, only Instagram highlights in general are linked to here and not the individual posts. The videos were downloaded using an external platform. Some status messages that disappear after 24h are only accessible via third party sources.
Also on May 24, Shelby Lynn began posting pictures and videos on Instagram under the title "Evil Rammstein". Here directly show several curiosities. Here, too, she publishes a selfie video, made during the concert, with the statement that Till expected her to have sex - but a completely different video than Lynn published on Twitter. So there are two different versions of the same video. On Instagram she says, among other things, "he wanted to have sex with me", while in the background you can hear the live intro to Mein Teil, so about 15 to 20 minutes after the Deutschland remix. The video on Twitter, on the other hand, as already described, was recorded during Du riechst so gut, so a whole hour later, here she says, among other things, "Till Lindemann wanted to fuck me". The fact that she recorded the same video twice in terms of content already suggests an increased will to want to publish corresponding videos during the concert.
In another video from May 24, Lynn tells us that she contacted the police herself, contrary to her statement on Twitter. The women mentioned later on Twitter are not mentioned here at all. She also says that the drug test was negative ("Did a drug test. Nothing showed up on the drug test.").
At the same time, she reports that she is not the only woman, other women have already reported to the police in England and Italy. Regarding the latter, it should be noted that the two concerts in Vilnius were the first of the tour and in 2023, neither Lindemann nor Rammstein performed in England or Italy that year. Since she still published the video on May 24, it seems questionable here where she should have information about reports from the police. The fact that women, who were even willing to file charges elsewhere after alleged offenses, voluntarily appear again at an after-party seems rather implausible here or suggests questionable motives. Further, in another status, she writes that "a sick video was made, as I learned" along with a screenshot of Till The End, which is a strong indicator that this is the video she was shown at the after-party. Additionally, she claims that this what was seen there would happen at every single one of Lindemann's after-parties. Lynn is obviously not aware that this is a professional video by a renowned German music video director who has worked with many greats and describes the video itself as an "extreme form of storytelling".
Lynn will also present many screenshots of alleged chat messages in the following status updates. However, due to the fact that these are exclusively anonymous, some of them are nonsensical and demonstrably false (some of them have been deleted again by Lynn), and at the same time there are radical, feminist actors who also accept criminal acts and violence (cf. attack on the Rammstein offices in Berlin, graffiti opposite Lindemann's private apartment, attempted sabotage of the Berlin concert, demo posters with calls for murder, break-in at Lindemann's private apartment), these reports cannot be granted authenticity and are useless as evidence. It should be noted here, however, that some of them have strikingly similar wording. At this point, however, the lack of authenticity also applies to anonymous third-party reports published on channels in defense of Lindemann and the After-Parties. This classification is worth mentioning because in the further course of the accusations against Lindemann, the influencer Kayla Shyx will quote some of it and mix it into her personal narratives. However, it is important to emphasize that Shyx never met Lindemann.
In part, Lynn also defends herself against accusations made against her. Among other things, Lynn also shares a picture of the conversation with Alena Makeeva, where Lynn explicitly asks that she had heard about the after-parties and how to get in. This confirms the previous statements on Twitter and the contradictions associated with them.
In response to an insinuation that she had tried the same thing at Metallica (which is demonstrably false, Metallica didn't have a gig in Berlin the year before), she responded by saying that she had never taken hard drugs in her life. The fact that she mentions "hard drugs" here, which also goes beyond alcohol and marijuana, makes the statement an over-specific denial and thus leads to an inconsistency with her early statements that she would not take drugs at all.
Another video from the front row shows Lynn talking to Joe Letz for a while before the concert and putting her arm around him several times in an intrusive manner. Lynn defends the video with the fact that she would have been clearly recognizable completely hyper and therefore annoying, put her arm around him to speak to his ear and probably asked questions about the meeting with Till. The video shows, however, that Lynn talked to Joe Letz again even after she knew about Lindemann's alleged sexual intentions.
In another picture she reacts to a fake accusation with several statements. First she clarifies that she didn't skip her medicine (the antidepressant) on the day of the concert, also she mentions in reference to the video by putting her arm around Letz with "I am sooo gay and Joe ain’t my type", furthermore she confirms that she only had a pizza and a smoothie that day. The last thing she writes is that she has never changed her story, just clarified things.
Thus, she directly states that, on the one hand, she mixed Lexapro with alcohol, and on the other hand, this was done on an empty stomach (the bill for the pizza, as mentioned above, is from noon 12:30). In addition, there are two demonstrably false claims: That she is a lesbian is refuted by a TikTok video in which she talks about her toxic ex-boyfriend, and that she never changed her story is refuted just by changing the description on Reddit and the Twitter bio with "Spiked by Rammstein" lateron to "Spiked at Rammstein."
Her sister's original claim that she intentionally skipped her meds that day so she could drink is refuted by Lynn in another status picture with, it was a misunderstanding. She had skipped the medication the afternoon after out of concern for side effects with the suspected drug. The withdrawal effects at this point also explain her condition the day after the concert, but raises the question of how strictly she actually adhered to the prescribed medication beforehand.
A status screenshot accessible only through third-party accounts via a browser history shows that Lynn, who originally intended it to confirm her own authenticity, appears to have searched for symptoms of a possible knockout drop administration herself during the course of May 23.
What is striking is that she does not appear to have clicked on any of the search results, unless the browsing history was subsequently filtered by her. Only the addresses of the pure Google search can be seen. In this context, cyberchondria must also be mentioned, the effect of a supposed self-affirmation of presumably severe clinical pictures by an Internet search, which, however, is often off the mark. The Internet searches further show that Lynn was not at all sure at the time whether she was really drugged.
A pro-Rammstein account has pointed out, based on a video comparison of the Lindemann statement from Twitter (which was recorded towards the end of the concert) and the after-party video, that Lynn freshened up and reapplied her lipstick between the concert and the after-party, as well as speaking clearly at the after-party.
The pro-Rammstein account suggests that the video was even made after she threw up. However, this seems unlikely at this point, because according to her statements on Twitter, Lynn threw up only after leaving the party. The video of the after-party, on the other hand, must have been made at the beginning of the party, more precisely between 11:36 p.m. and 0:36 a.m., since the positions and postures of the people correspond exactly to the status screenshot (see above), probably even using the identical source material.
Besides the fact that Lynn had time and motivation here to freshen up for the after-party despite the outrage over Lindemann and her supposedly absent state, there is an extraordinary oddity in the statements Lynn makes when asked about it.
First of all, Lynn comments on the status with the claim that she had been able to reapply the lipstick with "A girl helped me". She leaves the additional claim that this happened after she threw up uncorrected. When asked about whether this woman helped her with the makeup when she threw up, Lynn responded in a voicemail with, "Obviously not. After I had vomited, she helped me put myself back together to not raise any suspicion to leave the party".
So she not only confirms the claim of the Pro-Rammstein account that this happened after she threw up, she also continues to state that she only reapplied her makeup with someone else's help in order to be able to leave the party afterwards without attracting attention. However, the after-party video, in which she has already been newly made up, is a significant contradiction to this. The video doesn't give the impression at all that she wants to leave the place urgently. She asks here with a slight grin meaningfully into the camera "What is my life?" to emphasize her presence at the after-party. In addition, the time of the video does not fit at all with the Twitter statement that she wanted to leave the party only around 2:00 am and she threw up only then. Without the pro-Rammstein account seeming to be aware of it, here Lynn was made to make completely contradictory statements compared to the video shown on Twitter. It should be emphasized here that the earlier statements on Twitter were also already made in a sober, orderly state. The voice message thereby supposedly shows information about a possible fear and escape behavior, which she, however, never mentioned in her earlier narrations, although it would have been of quite some relevance. Yet she formulates this like a statement of fact, with a clear causal sequence that she remembers exactly: after throwing up, in order to leave the party without attracting attention.
Again, Lynn is cynically asked why her priority was to reapply lipstick after she threw up and further, why she went to the after-party even though she supposedly could barely walk, then filmed herself smiling. Lynn responds again in a second voicemail “I don’t fucking know. Maybe someone else helped me with my lipstick some other point in the night. Maybe this happened multiple times, I don’t bloody know”.
Lynn, who is audibly annoyed here, emphasizes in the answer that it could have happened at another time or several times. This shows that she may have become aware of the contradiction in chronology, although it was not directly asked about or explicitly mentioned in the original messages. Only the "smiling" in connection with the self-filming seems to have been enough as a cue for Lynn to try to explain herself here and to invalidate her originally clear statement with "A girl helped me" in relation to the new make-up after throwing up with, she does not know, it could also have been when differently or several times. However, since the original claim of the pro-Rammstein account was already clearly related to the video and only therefore possible in the first place, Lynn seems to have deliberately and intentionally formulated her first voice message in such a way that a certain narrative emerges, although she herself makes it clear with her second voice message that this could not be true.
This is difficult to justify at the point with a confusion, here the context must be emphasized again: After Lynn had already soberly and orderly summarized her course of the evening on Twitter, here, almost three months later, she confirms an accusation that was itself partially flawed with a clear and direct statement, thus delivering contradictions to herself. When she seemingly noticed this herself, she attempted to revise the original, clear assertion, contradicting her own narrative. Lynn comes off strongly here, showing a remarkable uncertainty about her own story.
In a different light, Lynn's announcement of an earlier lawsuit also puts her initial actions on Reddit in perspective.
Here Lynn shows an earlier Facebook post in which she advertises exactly what she didn't want to pay attention to on Reddit in the beginning. Since she already had experience with this and knows the corresponding processes, it seems questionable that she actively refused to inform the authorities in the beginning and did not even think about a medical examination.
On one of her first pinned posts on Instagram, there is a picture showing her hematoma along with a textbox.
This post from May 25 will also be the subject of the injunction and will be discussed in more detail in the next chapter. A similar post was shared on Twitter shortly after midnight on May 25, showing this in motion. At this point, it should only be pointed out a conspicuous feature on the picture and the video, in the form of a stain on the pants, exactly in the colors of the hematoma.
That this is dried blood of an injury related to the concert is excluded. On the one hand, she wore black underwear the night of the concert, as can be seen in the picture on Reddit, on the other hand, bleeding would have been definitely mentioned by Lynn. She only ever referred to her injury as "bruises". This raises the question of whether this stain was caused by the use of makeup, for example. Or, should it be an older bloodstain, why exactly these pants were chosen to present an injury and thus to create an aggravated impression.
On a YouTube channel that focuses on the topic of similar accusations against prominent people, there are interviews with witnesses who were on site with Lynn but were completely ignored in the media coverage. The interviewer's questions are sometimes suggestive and come across as biased, but the responses provide important insights into the larger picture.
In one of the first interviews, a witness who was verifiably with Lynn on the concert night describes that Lynn was very loud, enthusiastic, and attention-seeking from the beginning. They also opened their own drinks. Later Lindemann joined them and offered them shots and drank from them himself. After he left and it was time to head to the stage, Joe Letz told them, "take whatever you want, please make some drinks if you want, if you don’t need some drinks, lets go to the stage." The witness here testifies they then made drinks together with Lynn.
Here, the suspicion from the Twitter videos is confirmed that Lynn actually drank more alcohol than stated. In the interview, pictures and videos from other sources are also partly shown, which also show exactly these drink bottles. Complementing the Twitter videos, it is also clearly visible here that the contents of the witness's own bottle also show a colored liquid.
During the concert, she had danced "all the time" and "non-stop", very much used her cell phone and filmed, did not seem absent but mainly drunk. At the after-party, she had been sitting on the sofa, talking to other women and appearing calmer, and had seemed completely normal and talking when she left. Lynn had also told the witness that she was on medication and loved weed. The next day, the witness was made aware of Lynn's allegations and had tried to reach her but had been ignored. In another video shown during the interview (timecode 11:09), Lynn can be seen reading something on her smartphone to other women already at the stage before the concert. This is done completely calmly, with clear pronunciation and without conspicuousness.
Another interview took place with a 52-year-old French police officer who, according to his own statements, had attended between 15 and 20 Rammstein concerts and after-parties, does not seem to have any relationship with the band, and in Vilnius had stood directly in the front row behind Row Zero and was present at the same after-party as Lynn. The interview is rather general, he states that he had no bad experiences at any of the after-parties, no danger to the women, nothing illegal or sexual observed. Specific questions about Lynn are not asked and here it is clear that it was not the exclusive after-parties of Lindemann.
A third interview is conducted with a woman named Julia, who was at both the pre-party, Row Zero, and both after-parties in Vilnius. She says, among other things, that the shot Till offered the women at the pre-party was a mixture of tequila and prosecco and that the bottles were closed beforehand. Lynn had only noticed her during the concert because she was supposed to have been so "annoying". Julia confirms the statement of the first witness that Lynn had been particularly loud and impulsive and had jumped against the edge of the stage several times. The interview does not go into this, but this fits the theory that this is where the hematoma came from. The fact that she was not thrown out by the security, because Lynn several times left the marked area, which was strictly prescribed for safety reasons due to the pyrotechnics, had also surprised Julia. At the general after-party, she had seen Lynn normally on the couch filming Richard and talking to another woman. Furthermore, Lindemann's own after-party, where Lynn was not present, took place in the same room as the pre-party. Lindemann had made jokes about his presumably broken fingers after the fall on stage.
Several statements from other women are circulating on pro-Rammstein Instagram accounts that describe no noticeable behavior by Lynn at the after-party. However, these posts are not verifiable. However, one statement by a Melissa is made with her full name and verifiable presence through pictures and social media links. For Melissa, she says, it was a one-time thing on the occasion of her birthday, so she has no motivation to sugarcoat it. She was the only one at all who had drunk more than one of Lindemann's cocktails, Lindemann had wanted her to destroy a glass on the occasion of her birthday (Note for non-native speakers: In Germany there is the saying "broken glass brings luck"). She also reports that she was the only one who had brought something to eat, that there had only been bread and pickles and that Lynn's last meal must therefore have taken place beforehand. She is sure that after the Vodka-Energy, the Prosecco and Lindemann's cocktail, Lynn also drank an additional Prosecco with them. It is possible that she had another drink during the concert. Melissa writes that Lynn made a normal impression when they hugged goodbye around 1:30. In conclusion, Melissa rates it as strange that Lynn herself was still liking her Instagram stories the next day, while at the same time she was already posting the allegations online, but did not contact her or inquire about her in the process. For her, after a blackout due to too much alcohol, it was natural to ask those who were there to find out what happened in the first place. To this testimony it must be added that not the entire chat course is shown and partly cut off. Likewise, Melissa writes of Lynn's online activity on Twitter, which was either a mix-up with Reddit, or Lynn was already active there on the 23rd as well and deleted the tweets after the fact. However, there is no further evidence for the latter.
What also qualifies as testimony here is the Lithuanian police statement that Lynn did not give a police statement at all in Lithuania. This seems highly curious, given the seriousness of her allegations and the potential possibility of obtaining a full toxicological examination. Lynn made such a statement only later in Northern Ireland. Investigations were not started, however, because no evidence of wrongdoing emerged after her testimony and the hearing of witnesses.
And for the medical evaluation, it is important to mention the forensic medical report, which was requested by Lindemann's lawyers and based on the shared images and videos of the hematoma. This concludes that the most probable cause is an "accidental event without external influence", although external influence cannot be completely ruled out. The last addition is not to be expected in a serious expert opinion based on pure picture sources however also differently. However, it supports the theory of the stage edge as a possible cause.
Lindemann's attorneys also proceeded in an injunction action against Shelby Lynn to enjoin her from making certain statements that affected Lindemann's right of privacy. On Aug. 15, 2023, Lindemann's lawyers were defeated because her statement "spiked AT Rammstein" including the pinned Instagram post, was deemed by the court to be merely an expression of opinion and not a statement of fact.
As a statement of opinion, it thereby enjoys special legal protection and, according to the court, was permissible in the context of the "unusual failure symptoms with moderate alcohol consumption". Even ignoring the self-mixed PET bottle during the concert, it seems curious how a court could arrive at the classification of three high-proof drinks in combination with antidepressants on an empty stomach as merely "moderate alcohol consumption". Likewise, it does not take into account the withdrawal symptoms of the antidepressants the day after. The fact that she continued to claim "by Rammstein" in the past was not raised by Lindemann's lawyers.
Further, the court concludes
"It is recognizable to readers that the respondent draws conclusions from undisputed facts and thus does not make a statement of suspicion, but an evaluative statement. [...] Recipients recognize on the basis of the description of the respondent on which factual basis the respondent comes to the conclusion that she was drugged".
The fact that large parts of Lynn's activities are aimed at incriminating Lindemann, and that she also makes a direct connection between Lindemann and the "got spiked" in her pinned Instagram post, thus clearly suggesting suspicion, was neglected by the court. It was not taken into account that the statement "I don't know when this happened or how" seems to readers to refer only to what is perceived first in a picture article: the hematoma - and it does not invalidate the suggestion by mentioning Lindemann's tequila shot. The court's classification that it was recognizable to readers that this was not a statement of suspicion is completely detached from the real consequences here; the court seems to be in the dark about the effect and dynamics in social media in interaction with established media. These statements by Lynn were in fact the trigger for the multitude of suspicion reports, the mass reactions of influencers and activists. Lynn herself shared articles by established media, according to which she would accuse Lindemann of concrete crimes and thus made it her own. With a reach of just under 30,000 people on Instagram alone, even for Lynn the impact and responsibility of her public statements goes far beyond that of an innocuous statement as a private individual.
However, Lynn also defended herself in court by saying that she did not pretend to know who had given her the drugs or how it had happened.
"It is clear from the account that the respondent does not claim to know how the drugs were administered to her or even who administered the drugs to her [.] The respondent also makes it clear that she does not pretend to know how she might have ingested the drugs"
Even though some of the court's assessments as well as the giving of evidence by Lindemann's lawyers here seem questionable, the court has thus strengthened Lindemann's position in the action against other media, since Lynn's statement that she had been drugged was merely her personal opinion and Lynn confirmed here in court that she did not incriminate Lindemann at all.
After the verdict, the active sharing of media reports that misrepresent her own story even happens twice again, Lynn spreads a report by Tag24, which already on the screenshot makes the claim that she started rape allegations, as well as a BILD article, according to which Lynn claims that she "should be forced to have sex with frontman Till Lindemann (60)".
Corrections or comments were not made by Lynn on this.
In addition, the investigation by the Berlin public prosecutor's office against Lindemann was discontinued on 29.08.2023. The press release of the public prosecutor's office Berlin is extremely revealing here, despite hearing several witnesses and own investigations, neither a criminally relevant suspicion could be substantiated, let alone victims or evidence of an alleged crime could be found. The results of Lynn's own drug test are even described here as contradictory, which means that Lynn must have put something else on record in her police statements than the publicly known negative result, according to Lynn's own statement. Based on the statement of the witness on Youtube, Lynn's own over-specific denial in relation to her drug use as well as the withholding of the test results (despite a photo of the packaging, urine sample and the test cassette from the side), it can be speculated that possibly a specific substance class, such as marijuana, showed a positive result and she did not want to show this publicly.
Note: Since this person has not gone public with names, I am not linking the posts directly here to protect the person.
The first anonymous statement Lynn circulated on Twitter was sharing a Reddit post in which a woman, named AF at the time, also expressed suspicion of having been drugged. She had been drinking at the pre-party, but could only remember a few segments of the after-party, which this time seemed to be Lindemann's after-party. Since AF was convinced that she had only drunk too much, she went to a second concert and intentionally drank little at the pre-party. In the process, she noticed that the other women were behaving rather wildly at some point. After the concert, she said she was angry and pissed off, so she kept quiet at the after-party and watched the others. Lindemann would have made his "usual aggressive shit" (an aggressiveness was not described before, however, at all) and had sex with a woman at some point in the toilet. Remarkable here is the mention of presumed (consensual) sexual acts and an aggressiveness, exactly the two things Lynn asked Joe Letz explicitly about in a conscious state already at the pre-party.
Earlier activity on Reddit by AF paints an interesting picture here. AF's first posts actually stem from a discussion about Row Zero and the related rumors about Alena Makeeva. She herself was said to have been invited to an after-party. Furthermore, it can be concluded from her posts that the two concerts were most likely Coventry and Cardiff in the UK in June 2022, four days apart.
A few days after the concerts, in a discussion also about the after-parties, she asked if others had also had questionable experiences with them. She would try to gather information, as the ones she attended herself became very chaotic, and she wanted to find out if this happened elsewhere.
In addition to the later testimonial shared by Lynn, she also talks here about large amounts of drugs and that she was pretty sure one of the team would drug the women.
To a response that the women are free people and can do what they want, AF countered with "Unless they are offered large amounts of alcohol and drugs. On top of that, there is the power imbalance." The latter is a term still being critically discussed at the time, mainly in feminist circles. She closes one of her posts with "Not in love with Rammstein anymore".
So here is apparently a person who a year earlier already started to collect information about the after-parties after his own bad experiences. After an active discussion participation in the month after the concert, AF does not participate in discussions in the Rammstein subreddit anymore, with one exception. She does not become active again until May 2023, the month of the Vilnius concerts. On May 7, a now-deleted user asks if anyone wants to exchange a ticket for the fan club concert for a booked hotel room on May 22. Less than two hours later, AF here replies with "I sent you a message :)".
Since there was no activity in the request after that, it can be concluded that the exchange was successful and AF was in Vilnius on May 22. That she actually also attended the same concert as Shelby Lynn is shown by her next activity. In a thread discussing Lindemann's fall at the concert, she briefly and mysteriously commented on May 23 with "He was too fucked up last night", which sounds like she knew more about Lindemann's evening than others. It is very unlikely that someone who only knows single Youtube recordings would make such a statement.
Likewise, she responded twice in the burgeoning discussion, pointing out to others who exactly Shelby Lynn was in certain Instagram pictures. Mind you, this was at a time when little was known about Lynn on Reddit except for her first name and a single picture of the injury.
Then on May 25, AF writes in a thread about Lynn's allegations that she had already reported her incidents to the police last year because the same thing had happened to her.
However, the information of reporting to the police is new at that point and was not publicly disseminated by AF until that time. Lynn, on the other hand, in her Instagram video, as mentioned above, already told a day earlier, on May 24, that a woman in England had also reported to the police. So, assuming that Lynn did not make up such a report here completely by accident, there is strong circumstantial evidence that AF, who actually wanted nothing more to do with Rammstein, was not only at the Rammstein concert on May 22, but also had direct contact, presumably at the after-party itself or even possibly before, with Lynn.
But the oddities don't end here, because on June 3rd in a discussion about the press reports and the affidavits, AF speaks up again and states that she had given one herself:
Note: “Eidesstaatlichen Erklärungen” (statements made under oath/affidavits) to the press, as mentioned here, convey credibility but have no legal relevance in reality. False statements in such declarations can only be prosecuted if they were made to a court or an authorized authority (Section 156 of the Criminal Code). The statement would therefore have to be repeated by the person himself in court under oath for there to be potential criminal liability. Even if the hurdle and the effort here are significantly higher than in the case of general anonymous statements, this can also be manipulatively exploited by activists vis-à-vis the media, for example.
Likewise, also on June 9, when asked if anyone had access to a Spiegel+ article, she responds with "sent you a message" To another comment about the article paywall, AF responds with a direct link that includes a "giftToken", which is the ability to make an article accessible to others behind a paywall article:
That people directly linked to an article can distribute it is entirely common. Thus, there are two indications here that AF has direct links to the press.
Should these speculations be true, the question arises: What role did AF play in the story, who already started to collect information about the after-parties a year before, had nothing left for Rammstein, but then traveled to Vilnius for the concert and presumably had direct contact to Lynn as well as the press? At this point we can only speculate. But it can at least be stated that the coincidences are too extraordinary to be ignored sweepingly. Whether the contact took place before, at the after-party or only afterwards can only be speculated, but then the question remains for which purpose AF was in Vilnius at all.
It should also not go unmentioned that Lynn mentioned another, publicly unknown woman from Italy in the same sentence of her Instagram video, which means - assuming that Lynn did not make up these stories - that there is another person who either communicated directly with AF or must also have had contact with Lynn. What is striking here is the parallel to Lynn's account on Twitter, according to which a woman helped her with her nausea at the after-party, who then visited Lynn at the hotel with another friend and told her "this" had also happened to her and her friends. If the two women were AF and the Italian woman, it is open to question whether there was a concerted action or even an organized group working against Lindemann or Rammstein. The fact that two women (whom Lynn called friends), who were ready to file a police report but nevertheless visited an after-party again, only met by pure coincidence seems to be deeply improbable.
A possible indication that Lynn could have already met AF at the pre-party is provided by the Twitter post about the woman who warned Lynn about the meeting with Lindemann and had smuggled herself in with her VIP wristband from the fan club concert, which could have been AF. AF had traded her concert ticket for the fan club concert for a hotel room for the May 22 concert only two weeks earlier on Reddit, so she originally had aspirations to attend the fan club concert. However, flights and hotel rooms must have been booked long ago at that time, so that the mere change from the fan club concert to the regular concert seems unlikely and one must rather assume that she attended both concerts. Since, according to press reports, no ticket is necessary via the contact with Makeeva and AF was previously in possession of a regular ticket for the fan club concert, she had that too much in the scenario. With the exchange for an overnight stay for the second concert, there would then be the possibility to go a second time. Since AF has attended after-parties before, she also knows that all that's needed is the right wristband. What is striking here is the parallel that a woman who goes to the after-party again despite suspicion of sexual interactions or alleged offenses even actively warns others this time - something that AF previously also told Reddit was the motive for her second after-party visit in the UK.
Whether there was already a motive for Lynn from the beginning, presumably to be part of such a group or to provoke such a situation, cannot be proven at this point. There is merely circumstantial evidence scattered across various platforms, but no real connection can be established with it. For example, Lynn presented a video on TikTok in the past, in which she tells in an acting way that her ex-boyfriend turned her into a monster who exposes men and spits on them.
In an Instagram post along with her friend, she shares that they go out together to "put old men in their place."
A status message from Lynn defending that she is not doing this for fame, but actually cares about women, shows as a rebuttal her own Facebook post in which Lynn wrote a post as early as January 2022 stating that she is ready to help at any hour if you "feel threatened" as women are increasingly being sexually harassed, spiked, and murdered.
This post shows that Lynn had already developed an active awareness of spiking over a year earlier. However, this status post can only be found after as a screenshot of pro-ram accounts and thus cannot be verified after the fact.
Note: The striking "coincidences" and indications in this chapter show a lot, but at the same time leave a lot of room for speculation, as it has partly been done here. This must be taken into account here always.
Update 15.05.2024: A press release from the Schertz-Bergmann law firm confirms that the witness "Zoe" in a Spiegel article who claims to have been in Lindemann's hotel room one night and the next day "for hours" is not only the same woman who was in the hotel room with Shelby Lynn and got her the drug test, but also that her own incident allegedly took place on the same night and the same day. So she was still in Lindemann's hotel room for hours on the same day and the same morning and even told Der Spiegel that she wanted to write to Lindemann afterwards and meet him again - while she was in the hotel with Lynn on the same day. And although she claims that, unlike Lynn, she had sexual contact with Lindemann, she did not report herself as a victim to the police, but only supported Lynn. The presentation of the Spiegel article, in which no date or place - let alone the connection to Lynn - was mentioned, therefore seems highly manipulative and implausible. This impression is further supported by an incomplete witness statement submitted to the court by Der Spiegel.
Overall, the analysis of Lynn's social media activities paints a very changeable picture of her behavior. If we try to classify the contradictions and conspicuities in a semi-chronological manner, it can be summarized as follows:
Lynn
proactively contacted Makeeva to be invited to the after-party (own statements/Twitter and screenshots/Instagram)
knew rumors about Makeeva and after-parties in advance (own statement and activates/Reddit, statements about the rumors right after and "now I know the truth", contacted Makeeva, which is hardly possible without finding the Reddit discussions)
is already described as loud and enthusiastic beforehand (testimony)
mixed and poured her own drinks, drank Lindemann's cocktail from the same bottles as all other women and Lindemann herself (own statement/Reddit u. Twitter, witness statements/Youtube)
has mixed her antidepressant with hard alcohol on an empty stomach (only pizza at noon, medication confirmed by herself)
has demonstrably drunk more than stated by her, to be highlighted here is a whole 0.5L bottle of a mixed drink (video evidence/Twitter, witness statement/Instagram)
Expected not to be sober even at the pre-party later (Twitter, assuring the other woman not to let her go)
was surrounded by a woman who kept an eye on her and promised not to let her go under the stage (Twitter)
behaved exactly as she said she would in the run-up to the concert and pre-party itself ("I'm going to kick ass, you only live once", "I'm Irish, I can drink")
contradicts herself in her statement that she can't remember anything with the fact that she can remember (Reddit/Twitter/Instagram)
Of how the time until the DJ's set flew by
the scene under the stage and the conversation with Joe Letz afterwards, including the precise dialogues
the exact time when they left the stage for the after party
to the after-party with a lot of details like her exact drink consumption (two bottles of water) and also excludes that she drank something else here
conversations with other women, with details like videos of Lindemann
her nausea and the consequences, including the help of another woman
how she left the after-party
to the cab and, by name, the two men who organized it for her
to the couple who helped her with the lost room card at the hotel
as well as a retrospective memory of the perception of pain
recorded two takes of the same video of the scene under the stage during the concert (Twitter/Instagram)
had time and motivation to reapply her lipstick between concert and after-party (Instagram, Twitter video)
gets caught up in contradictions about when she reapplied her lipstick, she confirms the accusation that this happened after she threw up to be able to leave the party without attracting attention, however, in the after-party video she is already reapplying her makeup at the beginning (Instagram)
was not at the more exclusive Lindemann after-party (had cell phone with her, did not know the misunderstanding of Anesthesia with the security staff, witness statement/Youtube)
had an exchange with other women about Lindemann's sexual behavior at the after-party (own testimony, Twitter video)
was allegedly shown Till The End at the after-party (own testimony about shocking sex videos of Lindemann)
had contact at the after-party with a person who collected information about after-parties and later had contacts to the press (Reddit, chapter 5 of the report)
did not yet harbor suspicions of an alleged crime at the after-party (Twitter)
has contradictions as to exactly when she left the party in the first place (WhatsApp chat, phone calls, statements of witnesses)
walked alone a forest trail about 1 km long (Twitter)
wasn't at all sure if she was actually drugged, checked online for symptoms throughout the night (Instagram status)
posted the allegations on Reddit a few hours after the alleged incident before informing authorities or inquiring about other women present, the latter never seems to have happened (Reddit, witness statements/Youtube)
first claimed to have been drugged "by Rammstein," only later changing it to "at Rammstein" on Twitter (Reddit, Twitter screenshot)
justifies her actions a few hours after the alleged incident prioritizing social media instead of authorities, saying she wanted to warn other women, even though the next concert was only five days later (Reddit)
does not respond to attempts to contact other women who were with her (witness statements)
writes that she had already documented everything in detail when posting on Reddit, but did not consider getting a toxicology test or contacting the police (Reddit)
promised others to have the perfect concert outside of Row Zero, even though she herself said she couldn't remember (Reddit)
presented a screenshot without context as evidence without knowing the context or contacting the women involved while pretending to care about them (Reddit)
waited over 12h after the concert ended before informing authorities and taking a drug test, despite being called and encouraged many times to go directly to the hospital and police immediately after publication (Reddit)
by her own admission, has negative test results for most of the common drugs, including Rohypnol. However, a picture of the exact results was also not shown, and a full investigation was never initiated (Twitter)
Update 16.05.2024: Lynn's positive test for THC confirmed
has not given a police statement at the scene (Lithuanian press)
contradicts herself on who exactly called the police and ambulance (friends according to Twitter, herself according to Instagram)
contradicts herself on when she drank alcohol (5:30 vs. 8:00 p.m.), from when she can't remember anything (8:30 vs. 9:00 p.m.) and what exactly she can't remember (the time until the DJ set flew by vs. the whole concert vs. the whole evening vs. individual moments) (Reddit/Twitter)
did not take her medication the day after, which explains her symptoms that day (Instagram)
places videos in a certain context through her description, but this context is not apparent in the videos themselves (Twitter videos, in which her behavior is no different from the other women)
shows her injury while wearing pants with a stain in the exact colors of the hematoma, yet the pants are not from the concert night (Instagram/Twitter)
states that the psyched-up behavior visible on videos is not normal and is evidence of administered drugs, while at the same time texts and videos exist that show such behavior outside of it (TikTok video, Korn video, fandom around My Chemical Romance, selfie videos afterwards)
was strongly focused on social media from the beginning (two takes of a video with the same content during the concert, publication first on Reddit, after moderation multiple reopening of the topic, specially created Twitter account, Instagram highlights with provocative names like "Evil Rammstein")
she states she is a lesbian as a defense of the scene with Joe Letz, although she herself published a TikTok about her ex-boyfriend who turned her into a monster (Instagram)
reacts to quite nonsensical insinuations, like the Metallica rumor that she was hitting on Letz or that she wasn't there at all with rebuttals (Instagram)
has shown contradictions about her drug use, on the one hand she never uses drugs, on the other hand she has never used hard drugs. On top of that, a witness statement claiming Lynn told she loved weed (Reddit, Instagram)
clarifies a week later that Lindemann did not touch her, thus eliminating the previously existing speculation, which had a great media influence (Twitter)
creates to this day a conscious suggestion through one of her first pinned post on Instagram, which shows the picture of the hematoma together with the claim that she was drugged at Rammstein. In addition, the sentence "And Till gave everyone a tequila shot". She also writes that she doesn't know when and how this happened, but for a viewer this only seems to refer to the hematoma, while the mention of Lindemann's tequila shot suggests a clear causality (Instagram).
has clearly communicated a negative result of her drug test online, however, the public prosecutor's office Berlin describes in its press release that "contradictory information" was given about this. Lynn has therefore presumably withheld something from the public and only stated it to the authorities (press release Berlin)
In essence, two character traits can be determined here, she
tends to exaggerate, draw quick conclusions, and make impulsive decisions that she later has to correct or explain in more detail (e.g., "by Rammstein" becomes "at Rammstein," correcting times multiple times, posting her concern for women on social media instead of asking them herself, giving different accounts of memory, sharing newspaper reports that misrepresent her own story, sharing posts of unverified accusations about concerts that never happened)
tries to maintain a consistent image of herself (she states she never changed her story, tries to provide evidence even for harmless and sometimes nonsensical accusations)
Especially the first point in combination with videos, to which she already provides a context via the description, which is not apparent from it at all, can be evaluated as a media-technical worst-case for Rammstein and thus became a PR disaster for the band and Lindemann personally. The media are to be criticized here clearly, who have made Lynn's accusations their own without investigating and questioning further backgrounds. The most important information and contradictions were public from the beginning.
What explicitly cannot be proven from this is,
whether she deliberately or intentionally provided false or contradictory information in various placesthat she can explicitly remember everythingunder which influence she really was
what was the definite cause of her hematoma
what Lynn's motives were in prioritizing social media rather than a regulatory investigation
whether the witnesses are all telling the truth
It can only be stated that the circumstantial evidence suggests that a cross-reaction of hard alcohol and her medications on an empty stomach is the most likely explanation for her symptoms and perception of the evening. The mere consumption of alcohol-energy mixed drinks, even without medication, is sufficient here to plausibly explain her amped-up and impulsive behavior, which seems to be part of her personality even when sober, in combination with alcohol-typical memory lapses. Presumed third party narratives as well as the supposed self-affirmation through internet search of symptoms may explain that Lynn actually thought she had been drugged at a later point in time, even if this does not seem to be consistent with her contradictory behavior in the aftermath. However, there is no evidence or suspicion here at any time to support an actual suspicion of knockout drops. Lynn behaved exactly as she had announced in advance in writing and verbally herself.
From the pre-party to the DJ set, Lynn was consistently surrounded by the other Row Zero women, in addition to the unknown woman who was watching over her. She herself has precise memories of the scene during and after the DJ set, after which she was again consistently with the other women until the general after-party. Due to the conflict situation between Lynn, Letz and Lindemann after the DJ set, it can be excluded that Lynn met Lindemann again afterwards. At the after-party Lynn was surrounded by many more people and also here she has very precise memories, especially of a woman who told her intimate reports about Lindemann. So there is also a woman there who Lynn had in mind under the aspect of a possible offense. Lynn further confirms that she only drank water bottles there. Only on the forest road after she left the party, Lynn is alone for the first time at all - however, due to the phone call with her friend when she left the forest, there is also no indication for an external influence here. The explanation of her impulsive movements near the edge of the stage seems the most plausible cause for her hematoma. Indications of external influence in the context of the pre-party, the concert or the after-party cannot be derived from any statements or information - in the case of the after-party, they can even be explicitly ruled out.
And finally, there is circumstantial evidence to suspect that a third party working against Rammstein or Lindemann played a role in her sentiment and motivation to post on social media. Although little evidence can be found that Lynn herself intentionally provoked the situation, it can be stated that a person like her, who seems prone to emotional and impulsive behavior, can easily be implanted with the idea that third-party administered drugs may be at play. Further simplified by the alcohol influence and its accompanying symptoms, the indignation about Lindemann, as well as the awareness of spiking in the past. Thus, strong conditions for confirmation bias and selective memory (access-biased memory) are present here, making Lynn a possible key figure for a third party. The media coverage of Rammstein's case alone has already resulted in multiple, analogous behavior of suspected KO drops at a Roland Kaiser concert, which was attributed to the combination of alcohol consumption and stress after the conclusion of the investigation. Whether or when here in the case of Lynn such a scenario could have occurred by chance through narrations of third parties or consciously by antagonists of Rammstein, is highly speculative. The only certainty is that the latter were on site and that there must have been contact with Lynn at some point.
The most important thing to take away from this report, however, is how important it is to get a toxicological and medical examination as soon as possible, as soon as there is a suspicion that something has not gone right. Only then can reliable and provable facts be established. This cannot be emphasized and propagated strongly enough. Failure to act will massively hamper credibility for all concerned.
Finally, again, explicitly:
Do not harass any involved persons!
