There is just one major show on Saturday and it’s a big one headlined by undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez’s defense against unbeaten Mexican countryman Jaime Munguia. There is also my brief fight-week interview with Canelo as he lashes out at Oscar De La Hoya, his former promoter; a preview of Monday’s Naoya Inoue-Luis Nery showdown; news of the week; and ringside memories on the anniversary of a mega fight of mega fights.

Here is what’s on the show (in order):

  • Preview of Canelo-Munguia: the buildup, the Canelo-De La Hoya war of words, and how we think it will go.

  • My brief interview with Canelo in which he went off on De La Hoya following Wednesday’s press conference.

I am in my 25th year of full-time boxing coverage. Take advantage of that experience by upgrading to a paid subscription for full access to all posts and comments — and also to support independent journalism.

  • TJ’s interview with Mark Boccardi of our great sponsor PPV.com, which will stream the Canelo-Munguia event.

  • Preview of undisputed junior featherweight champion Inoue’s title defense against former two-division titlist Nery and three other world title fights at the Tokyo Dome on Monday morning U.S. time.

  • My travel home after Canelo-Munguia is not my normal Las Vegas to Washington, D.C. itinerary and I am not happy about it.

  • Discussion of my major scoop that Ryan Garcia failed two drug tests for the banned substance Ostarine the day before and day of his tainted victory over Devin Haney.

  • Announcement that the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight will be sanctioned by Texas regulators as an official boxing match, albeit with eight two-minute rounds and with the combatants wearing 14-ounce gloves.

  • Turki Alalshikh’s announcement that he plans to make heavyweight Jared Anderson against Deontay Wilder and place it on the already stacked Aug. 3 mega card as long as Wilder defeats Zhilei Zhang on June 1 and has no injuries.

  • Ringside memories on the ninth anniversary of when Floyd Mayweather handily outboxed Manny Pacquiao in their looonnnnnnng-awaited mega fight, the biggest money fight in history that in the end did not come to living up to the hype.

Please give it a listen! Also: rate, review, subscribe and enjoy!
