Food Gifts for Foodies - by Pamela Salzman
If you’re here, you probably love food like I do. And since like-minded people tend to find each other, your loved ones might love food too!! Here are some fun and delicious food gifts for the foodies in your life. Please share with everyone in the comments if you’ve received something absolutely fabulous that we need to know about!
OLEA PIA Olive Oil and Pink Balsamic Vinegar Set - Picking an Olive Oil and Pink Balsamic Vinegar Set as a gift is a winner because it's a gourmet pairing that adds a delicious zing to salads, ceviche or carpaccio, or even bread dipping. Plus, the packaging is gorgeous.
Golden Door Granola - I always make big batches of my homemade granola every year for gifting, but this year I am out of town leading up to the holidays. I am buying several bags of my favorite granola from the Golden Door which donates all of their net profits to charity. They have given me the code PAMELA10 to use for 10% off through 1/31/24. My favorite flavors are Crunchy Cacao and Rose Pistachio.
Fiona’s Pasta - There is no prettier and more creative pasta than Fiona’s, but it is pricey. I was gifted this pasta by someone once and it was delicious, but definitely for the person who has everything.
Bushwick Kitchen Spicy Maple Syrup - You’ve heard of hot honey, but what about hot maple syrup? Such a fun twist for French toast, pancakes and biscuits. They also have a gift box with spicy honey, spicy maple syrup and spicy sriracha.
Fish Wife Tinned Fish - I know I’ve mentioned my love for tinned fish before, and I am still smitten with Fish Wife tinned fish, especially the smoked mackerel and smoked trout. The packaging is very fit for gifting.
Flor de la Jara Extra Virgin Olive oil - There are many good olive oils out there (and many that aren’t!) This one from Flor de la Jara is delicious and beautiful. You can leave this on the table for when you want that extra drizzle.
Masha Tea sets - Winter calls for hot drinks like tea. Adorably packaged line of hand-crafted Brooklyn, New York-based organic teas and herbal infusions.
Roy’s Panettone - Roy’s panettone is the most amazing panettone I’ve ever had BUT you need to pre-order it months in advance of Christmas, so put a reminder on your calendar for next year! Otherwise, there are some gorgeous and delicious panettoni in-store at Eataly or Giadzy.com.
Philosopher Foods Sprouted Almond Butter - The packaging may not be over the top, but this is one of the most fresh and tasty almond butters I have ever had. Perfect saltiness and roasted almond flavor.
Roe Caviar Gift Set - If I need to gift someone who has everything, I send a box of Roe caviar. The packaging is A+!
Tequila Mandala - Tequila Mandala rotates twice a year different artists with their own proposals for their Special Edition ceramic bottles. It would be great to include a beautiful bottle of this sipping tequila in a gift basket along with other fixings for a friend to make their favorite tequila-based drink.
Sourdough Bread Making Kit - A sourdough starter would also be an amazing gift for someone who wants to start making homemade naturally-leavened sourdough. You can find this at some bakeries or even Eataly. I know some friends who have gotten starters through people on Craigslist and met the seller to make the transaction in a public place, like a drug deal. Might be a little risky in my opinion!
Coops hot fudge - I originally spotted Coop’s sauces at Field + Fort in Summerland and oooh la la! Such a fun gift for anyone who enjoys elevated ice cream sundaes!
Momofuku Soy Sauce and Tamari Set - Much higher quality than store-bought and great packaging. Soy sauce and tamari also have a long shelf life.
Bella Cucina Artisanal Pesto (set of three) - Cute and perfect for having on hand in the pantry if you have last-minute guests for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and would be a great addition to a gift basket of goodies.
Brins Cherry and Jam Gift Set - Delish and unique flavors of handmade jam like cherry chai, blueberry sumac, strawberry lemongrass. Such an interesting way to spruce up your usual toast and jam.
Intelligentsia House Blend - This is a favorite amongst coffee snobs!
Maldon Salt - My favorite condiment ever. Flaky salt makes everything better from vegetables to raw apple slices to avocado toast and beyond. This is the biggest tub you can find!
