Guilt Is The Heaviest Weight That Many People Carry. Some Ways to Find Relief.

You probably have seen many kinds of visible weights, they can be measured. But there is one invisible weight, it cannot be measured, and it is the heaviest. Another strange thing is that it is also deeply hidden in the deepest layer of people’s hearts.

Guilt is a profound weight that often becomes a heavy burden, weighing many of us down. It's an invisible weight that is felt only by the person carrying it, unless they decide to express their feelings and share their burden with others. This weight can be a consequence of a past mistake, whether it was an innocent accident or your deliberate action that caused distress and pain to others.

In life's journey, people can feel guilty for making mistakes related to demonstrating their abilities, such as failing an important exam or making a poor financial decision that results in losing money or causing a mechanical accident. In these instances, it's vital to shift our perspective on these experiences. Instead of viewing them as failures, you should consider them invaluable learning opportunities. Each mistake, each error, should be perceived as a stepping stone towards your goals rather than a hindrance.

Regardless of the nature or magnitude of your mistake or the guilt that you are carrying, time has moved on, the guilt often remains. The popular saying, “Everyone makes mistakes,” carries a profound truth. If you've made some, you should keep in mind that you're not alone in this. Everyone carries a share of guilt and wrongdoing in the backdrop of their lives. Some people may choose to share these feelings openly, while others may prefer to keep them concealed, but all of us have committed deeds that we later regret.

However, it's also worth noting that past mistakes are irreversible. They cannot be undone. The crucial step towards moving on is to reflect objectively on these errors and accept responsibility where it's due. Avoid the temptation to live in denial or resort to self-defense, as these merely drain your own energy and create unnecessary internal conflict. Those people are bravest who accept and acknowledge. If your mistake was a reaction to someone else's wrongdoing, it's time to extend forgiveness to that person and, importantly, to your own heart. Just like acceptance, forgiveness holds tremendous power and can bring peace to your troubled heart.

If your actions caused harm or distress to someone, consider reaching out and apologizing, even if a significant amount of time has elapsed. If the thought of a face-to-face encounter feels too daunting, consider writing a letter of apology instead. This action can bring peace to your heart, facilitate healing, and enable you to move forward.

Everyone makes mistakes, and feeling guilty is a natural response. However, holding onto guilt for too long can negatively impact your current mood. It can also affect people who are now in your life, such as your partner, best friend, or other family members.

True joy comes when you put your efforts into breathing gently through those weights that kept you down. I would like to share a joyful video to add some peace and joy. Two years ago, a mother lost her son and son's partner in a car accident in Newfoundland. She wrote to me asking if I could dedicate my dance on the birthday of her son's partner. So, I dedicated this video to her son's partner Breana, who lives with angels now. The mother wrote back that the video made her smile despite the grief she was dealing with. This feedback brought me immense joy and a feeling of contentment as well.

Don't be too hard on your heart, but learn from your mistakes and do your best not to repeat them. They're part of your journey, helping you become a better version of yourself. So, instead of letting your guilt weigh you down, why not use it as fuel for change? Let it inspire you towards deepening your understanding, kindness, practicing forgiveness, and becoming a wonderful person. This way, you are not just helping and healing yourself, but also creating joy for the people around you at this moment.
