In Memoriam: Bro. Donald Cheatham

"To serve the present age, my calling to fulfill, O may it all my pow'rs engage to do my Master's will!"--A Charge to Keep

As I noted in a Facebook post earlier this afternoon, I am still processing the news that my Morehouse College classmate and Frat Brother Don Cheatham has passed away after a long and valiant fight against cancer.

Don was 51 years old…

As I often write, anytime that anyone in my age range transitions, it reminds me, quite starkly, that we all have a day of reckoning coming soon. And when my own time comes, I can only pray that I have even half the strength, courage, and grace that Don C displayed throughout his fight with such a dreaded disease, one that he did not allow to stop him from showing love to his wife and daughter, his extended family members, and all of the SpelHouse (Morehouse-Spelman) Family who must now measure a loss that is practically impossible to weigh.

I am so very grateful for the years of friendship that I was able to share with Brother Cheatham, and I will remain grateful that when I decided to monetize the Hobbservation Point Blog, Don did not hesitate to become one of my early financial supporters ❤️!

And so I bid farewell to good Brother Cheatham and I pray that he finds rest along those “Golden Shores!” My prayers also extend to his family, friends, and classmates who loved him and will miss him dearly!
