Ins and outs for 2024

Happy New Year! After taking a little pause for the holidays, I thought I’d start out the year with a list of sorts. The “ins and outs” for 2024 seems to be making its way around social media and I’ve been thinking about what I’d want to include in mine. As I brainstorm about newsletter topics for this year, my main goal is for whatever I write about to be useful for you guys, and fun/interesting for me to write about. I’ve had a little writers block lately, and am always open to topic ideas or questions you want to send over (just comment on any post!).

Anyways, here are my personal and nutrition-related ins and outs for 2024:

In:

  • social media restriction (and a private Instagram account)

  • therapy

  • less running mileage

  • dinner reservations at 6:00PM (this is not new, but…)

  • spending $$ on fine jewelry

  • but also, spending more on experiences/travel and less on “stuff”

  • reading all the books

  • spoiling all the dogs (they deserve it)

  • presence

  • grocery delivery

  • football

  • husband = best friend

  • eating adequate protein

  • cooking at home

  • staying up to date on the latest nutrition research

  • breakfast

  • refueling after workouts

  • following a nutrition plan that’s right for you

  • having an evolving nutrition philosophy

  • healthcare teams working together

  • hydrating

  • working on your relationship with food

Out:

  • overtraining and/or high running mileage for no reason

  • incessant scrolling and sharing on social media

  • cropped shirts

  • the comparison trap

  • too much caffeine

  • trying to “do it all”

  • letting anxiety dictate behaviors

  • influencer photo shoots on every street corner

  • going to the grocery store five times in one week

  • spending $$ on trendy items

  • wishing the days away

  • walking dogs while constantly on the phone

  • the word “clean” in relation to anything other than what you do to your house or clothes

  • eating too much protein

  • fasted workouts (or fasting in general)

  • cookie cutter diets

  • equating weight and health

  • “saving up” calories for a particular meal or event

  • using BMI as a health indicator

  • incorrect usage of weight loss medications

  • takeout every night

As always, I appreciate you reading and wishing you the best for 2024 :)
