Introducing Creative Things - by Helena Price
Hello and happy 2024!
I somehow managed to acquire hundreds of new subscribers on my month break. A warm welcome to all of you. For those who are new here, let me introduce myself.
My name is Helena Price. I am a Silicon Valley creative who has spent more than a decade helping startups, corporations and consumer brands define their visual style. My past clients include Airbnb, Dropbox, Fitbit, Google, Instagram, Meta, Microsoft, Nike, Pinterest, Slack, Square, Twitter and Uber. My work has been featured on ABC, CNN, Fast Company, Fortune, Glamour, The Guardian, Inc., TIME, The New York Times, Vanity Fair and more. I have been extraordinarily lucky to have this career, and I’ve traveled the world, learned so much, and met so many amazing people through this work.
I am also a founder. In addition to my creative studio, in 2019 I launched Haus, with the goal of improving drinking culture for today's generation. Seen in The New York Times, Vogue, and GQ, Haus has been credited with changing drinking culture in America, as well as inspiring a new generation of consumer brands. Haus was acquired in 2022.
Founder Things is a personal project. Here I photograph and share candid, honest 1-on-1 conversations with other founders. I hope these conversations can both demystify the founder journey, and provide small bits of wisdom that can benefit all of us.
Next week, we’ll go back to our regularly scheduled interview programming. Today I want to tell you about a new newsletter I’m working on.
There are many things I want to write about that don’t quite fit neatly here at Founder Things. While I identify as a founder, I identify first and foremost as a creative. So I have started a second newsletter, called Creative Things.
Here, things will be a little wilder, less structured, giving you a look into the insides of my creative brain. I’ll be reflecting on the past, sharing from the present, musing on the future, and sharing inspiration and tools that have kept me generative for all of these years.
I often have found the creative journey and the founder journey to be at odds. Sometimes creativity is rewarded, and sometimes it feels like the entire world is telling you that there’s a certain way that things are done, and your intuition has no place at the table.
Over time, I can look back and see that when I let my creative identity take the wheel, incredible things happen. And so I feel a responsibility to help others protect and nurture their creative sides, because that, in my opinion, is when we can align with our purpose and do our life’s best work.
If that resonates with you, join me.
Most of the content is free in both of my newsletters. If you choose to, you can support the work by joining as a paid subscriber. In doing so, you are ensuring that it grows into what it was meant to become. Regardless, I’m still happy to have you.
Lastly, I am booking new clients for 2024. If you’re interested in working together, now or down the road, please reply to this email and say hello.
Sending my best and see you next week.
