Is Paul Rudd Vegan? - by egan Bub Club
If you’re like anyone else on the planet right now, you are likely spending more time than ever online, hovering up the deluge of showbiz news in an attempt to remove yourself from the weight of the ‘real’ news we’re all trying to overcome. As the vegan scene continues to flourish (cheers, #veganlife) there is even more great plant-based content to devour.
Paul Rudd has made waves online by taking up the super trendy challenge of the iconic ‘hot ones’ feature show. While being asked a series of questions about his life and career, he works his way through a pile of different hot sauce smothered wings, attempting to keep his cool while the spice level ramps up.
Oh, except these aren’t chicken wings - they’re cauliflower florets!
Rudd certainly wasn’t the first to jump on the ‘hot ones’ veggie trend. Billie Eilish, Ricky Gervais, and Russell Brand are just a few of the famous faces who have opted for plants over poultry. But the difference between them and this guy, is that Paul Rudd actually isn’t a vegan. He isn’t even vegetarian!
When asked about his plant-based position, Rudd admits he still eats meat but tries to have meat-free days when he can. He recognizes the value of skipping steak, but isn’t quite ready to give it up altogether. For some of you reading this, the process of a gradual transition might be very familiar. Or perhaps you were an ‘overnighter’ who switched in amount of epiphany.
The main thing is, the world is certainly making mega moves towards a cruelty free future!
Us mere mortals are unlikely to be interviewed on a world platform celebrity interview show anytime soon - but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some serious fun with our food! Why not host an online ‘hot ones’ challenge for your friends, Rudd style? Or host a cook-off with a bunch of plant-appreciating buddies?
Vegan shepherds pie is a dish that even the most basic of cooks can make. Simply swap the shepherd element (lamb) for veggie mince or lentils, and use vegan butter to enrich the mash topping. Braver cooks can even have a go with adding in some chilli to spice things up - it could become your secret weapon when hosting for friends in future!
Although after all those hot cauli-wings you might be a little spiced out…
In the current times, connecting with the ones we love has never been more important. Food and comedy are two great ways to do that, while having a whole lot of fun along the way.
