Laundry is a fact of life. People wear clothes. Clothes get dirty. Clothes must be cleaned! Thank goodness this process is easier than when our great-grandmothers were using washboards and the like. These days doing laundry doesn’t need to be that much more work than putting something in the microwave.

Well, unless you make laundry into more of a production than it needs to be. We do a lot of laundry in my household of seven people — indeed, I’m doing a load as I’m writing this — but it rarely feels overwhelming (and yes, I still do plenty of it myself). Here are a few strategies for keeping laundry from taking over your life.
