Leo Allgaier Makes LEC All Conference Second Team

Duxbury native Leo Allgaier had quite the lacrosse season for himself. The junior captain was one of the top defenders in the Little East Conference and because of that was named Second Team All Little East. Allgaier caused 36 turnovers and scooped up 43 ground balls over 17 games in the 2022 season. In addition to his elite defensive play, Allgaier netted 1 goal against Casleton and assisted on another.

Allgaiers best game of the season came in an 11-8 win over Johnson and Wales where he caused 8 turnovers and recovered 3 ground balls. His 2.1 caused turnovers per game was the highest on the Buccaneers roster among defenseman; the next highest coming from freshman defenseman James Cassidy who averaged 1.0 per game. Earlier in the season, Allgaier was named LEC Defensive Player of the Week where he caused 4 turnovers and picked up 7 ground balls through two games.

Outside of lacrosse, Allgaier is a distinguished cadet at the academy. He’s a dual sport athlete that starts at wide receiver on the Buccaneers football team. In the 2021 season, he caught 15 passes for 105 yards; his season long came against Westfield State when he caught a 28 yard pass that set up a Buccaneers touchdown.

Off the field, Leo is a first company squad leader and was selected to be an International Maritime Business rate for the 2022-2023 academic year; a position that only four other students will hold through 2022-2023.

Allgaier is looking forward to the football season, but will definitely be excited to build off a successful lacrosse season and work towards earning First Team LEC honors.
