Life Update - April '23
Greetings avid fans and consumers of my limited autobiography!
How are you doing on this fine May morning? Wait - what. I need to say that again. It’s f*cking May (of a year a STILL keep writing wrong). Spring is here, days are longer, and I’ve already begun cultivating my summer spotify playlist. Maybe you’ve just caught me on a good day but things have absolutely PEAKED for me in the last few days. So I’m excited to share this life update because so rarely are all my life aspects in such balance.
WORK:
live role playing that you care. Alexis, my heart will forever go out to you for saying this after a particularly stressful work day where she was comparing our jobs to “live role playing”. where everyone just tells themselves that they care so much about their work when in reality they actually care about their kids, the next vacation their planning, or the mortgage they need to pay off. like we’re all just really good at playing the role at work.
idk ive felt like ive always actually cared about my work, but recently it’s gotten to such an unhealthy point that I’ve had to learn how to isolate what happens during my 9-5 from the rest of my personal life. so quick poll for you that are in the workforce - how many of you ACTUALLY care about your productivity/reputation/climbing the corporate ladder and how many of you have said f*ck that and simply work to live? You can be honest here. There’s no wrong answer and your manager doesn’t follow my blog.
I HIT MY QUOTA! friends, I don’t think you understand how big of deal this is. Or maybe you do b/c you hear me complaining about it all the time (@amy). But for context I finished at 63% last quarter (which to me is pretty shameful lol) and so I knew I had no chance of hitting 100% (b/c the $ amount also goes up every quarter). But through a series of successful manuevers, help from reps, and TONS of luck I was able to close $2 million in just 3 months. Isn’t that f*cking crazy??
If I was a straight white frat bro my ego would be through the roof rn. i would’ve called all my fraternity brothers and hosted a yacht party this weekend and then posted the photos all over my instastory. but I’m not cause that’s kinda annoying lol.
PERSONAL:
spring formal aka Caselli house reunion! It happened again :) Our annual Caselli Formal but this time in spring colors. Not much to say other than it was a beautiful windy day with beautiful, breezy people and got to reunite with several ex-Caselli roommates.
Clavelli Family BBQ. Oops I guess you know his last name now. But my bf has 3 other brothers who, for the first time in history, are ALL dating someone so his parents were super excited about it and hosted a BBQ at their house to meet all the girlfs. The food was delicious, the vibes were immaculate, and there was even a spontaneous post-it-jumping contest BUT the most important takeaway is I got to drive a tractor for the first time :)
weekend trip to Tahoe! If that wasn’t enough, we also booked a 5 day couple’s trip at Lake Tahoe to go skiing and tubing while the snow was still like 7 feet tall. This was the first time we’ve spent 120 consecutive hours together but it was SO fun. Clavelli retaught me how to ski, we shared the best pretzel of my life, and ran into his best friend and his gf who - get this - had been staying in the room right across from us the WHOLE time.
Amy came to visit! It’s been a couple of weeks but the QUEEN herself came to the city again to spend time with her soulmate (and her boyfriend lol). We did a cute couple’s brunch at The Plow which was fun cause that was my first time officially meeting her wonderful boyfriend Frank who happens to be another boy next door for me. And then I think Frank also had a mutual friend with Clavelli so now there is literally #NoOneNewToMeetInSanFrancisco
scenic hikes with old friends. even though i adore my boyfriend and never get sick of him i still try to make an effort to hang out with my regular friend group so they are reminded of how irreplaceable they are to me. Just yesterday, Kristen (yes you heard that right! she’s backkk) scooped Travis, Sam, and I and we all drove up to Mt. Tam for a 3 hour hike where it felt JUST like the old days when we all lived together as single pringles under one household.
WHOA. I knew i had been busy this past month but seeing it all listed out like that makes me either want to 1) take a nap or 2) drink a hefty glass of water. Maybe I’ll do both after this.
Once again, thanks for tolerating me up to this point. Y’all are the bestest <3
