Love songs are unbearable since my divorce

Thanks for sharing. I think that for most people, their "love song" is a song that played when they met or that has special memories connected to them. That can later be painful or bittersweet, after a spouse has passed away or has moved on.

Are you genuinely finding these love songs "painful"? Could your response have something to do with what people tell you that you should be feeling right now, namely like a failure and ashamed or guilty for being such a failure? (How would you feel about these songs if you were widowed instead of divorced?)

I'm not divorced but I often find lovesongs silly and annoying. They're usually just like Valentine's Day, intended to create a market and generate turnover. But, if you need a beautiful one, listen to James Galway or anyone else who plays the flute well play "Spanish lovesong". Simple and sincere, mournful and grateful. No artificial red roses and boxes with pink hearts and artful bows connected to it.

PS

You're probably merely wiser and mourning a little.
