Miracle Treatment for Low Back Pain and Sciatica

We’re in the 21st century. We think we know a lot about the human body. But that’s only because we compare our current ignorance with our former ignorance. Every generation of scientists and doctors looks back on previous generations of scientists and doctors with ridicule and disdain for their erroneous beliefs and practices, not realizing that future generations will view them in the same way.

We refer to ourselves and our science as ‘modern’, but we are really no different than the generations that believed the sun revolved around the earth. Our erroneous beliefs are just different than theirs.

The fact is that, compared to what we don’t know about the human body, what we do know is a drop in the bucket. And, much of what we ‘do know’, or believe to be true, is false and will be abandoned at some point in the future. It has always been that way.

We can’t beat ourselves up for not knowing everything. Still, we can, and should hold ourselves accountable for the fact that, whether we admit it or not, the mainstream of our scientific and medical communities are, all too often, unconscionably resistant to accepting new knowledge when it comes along.

It’s true. It’s a proven fact that new advances in health care and science often take 20 to 50 years to be accepted by the mainstream. If it doesn’t match the established paradigm, it is ignored, dismissed, or even actively fought against.

Having said all that, I will now proceed to tell you about a very unconventional treatment for low back pain, sciatic neuralgia (sciatica), and other problems relating to the lumbar spine. It’s a simple, but very effective treatment that can be performed by any healthcare provider. You can even do it on yourself. For lack of a better name, I call it the Curtis technique. Feel free to call it whatever you want.

You might think I’m crazy, or pranking you.

I do not know why this technique works. I don’t know the scientific basis of it. and when I explain it to you you may think I’m either crazy or trying to prank you. All I know is that it has been a blessing to me and to countless patients of mine over the years.

If you suffer from low back pain, sciatica, or one of many lumbar spine-related conditions you owe it to yourself to try this. If you are a chiropractic doctor, a physical therapist, a massage therapist, or anyone who deals with people who suffer from problems relating to the lumbar spine, you owe it to your patients to learn and practice the Curtis technique. You can also teach them to perform it on themselves or teach one of their friends or relatives how to do it on them. And, It will make you a hero in their eyes.

I have used this technique for many years and have had a long string of successes, many of them verging on the miraculous. I have done videos on the Curtis technique which have gone viral, garnering many millions of views and tens of thousands of comments, many of them from people who have tried the technique and are thrilled and amazed at the results.

It’s a big world and I’m sure I’m not the only person in it who knows about this, but I have never heard or read about it and I have never met anyone, be they doctor or lay person, who knew about it. It was not taught to me. I discovered it for myself.

There are no side effects. Yay!

Part of the beauty of the Curtis technique is that it has no side effects. It works at least 90% of the time and the results are usually immediate, and in many cases, quite dramatic. They are also permanent in most cases. The number of treatments needed varies from patient to patient, but rarely are more than five treatments needed, and sometimes one is enough.

Step 1. Find the center of the armpit.

Step 2. Go down toward the feet a few inches. (it varies)

Step 3. Poke around that whole area below the armpit until you find a spot that is extremely sore. It will almost always be there. I call it the Curtis spot.

Step 4. With your fingertips or your thumb, push hard against the rib cage underlying the sore area and move in a circular or back-and-forth motion. It will be very painful. Sorry, but this technique hurts. If you are not causing pain, either you aren’t doing it right or you are not on the correct spot.

Perform the technique for about 30 seconds (longer if you find it is necessary). If the patient’s symptoms are all on one side, you may only find the sore spot on that same side. If the pain is in the center of the low back or radiating to both sides, treat both sides.

No limitations

I have learned to place no limitations on this technique.

What I mean by that is that I have had patients who have had MRIs showing disc herniations, patients with severe degenerative changes in the low back, patients diagnosed with piriformis syndrome (an extremely common misdiagnosis), patients who have had failed spinal surgery, and patients who have been through physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, medical injections, massage therapy, and acupuncture, with no results, and they responded to this simple, seemingly counterintuitive technique.

Skepticism is ok

In fact, I believe in what I call open-minded skepticism—an emphasis on open-mindedness. I don’t expect you to simply believe in this unusual thing just because I told you it works, but in view of the fact that I am not selling it to you—I’m offering it as a free gift—to simply reject it because it is new and unconventional, would be . . . actually, quite typical. Don’t be typical. Yuck.

FAQ

Q: What if I can’t find the Curtis spot?

A: If there is a low back condition (including neurologic pain like sciatica), it will be there. Sometimes you have to poke around, pressing very hard. If it just hurts a little, you’re probably not on the right spot.

Q: How big is the spot?

A: It varies from patient to patient. The smallest is about as big a round as an average human thumbnail, and some are much larger. Try to find the most tender area.

Q: What if there is no tender area?

A: That would be very rare, but if it happens, the technique may not work on that patient, but you should still try it. Usually, it’s fairly easy to find the spot, but sometimes it requires some probing. Don’t give up easily.  If you persist you will probably find it.

Q: If the pain is only on one side will the Curtis spot be on the same side or on the opposite side?

A: It will be on the side of the pain, but check the opposite side too. Quite often it is helpful to treat both sides.

Q: How long does it take to see results?

A: In most cases, the patient feels immediate relief to one degree or another, and it is not uncommon for the relief to be dramatic. I have had patients who had suffered for decades (in one case for 23 years) get up off the table, free of pain or nearly so. But this varies from patient to patient.

Q: How long do the results last?

A: This is an important point. I want to emphasize that the life-changing results from the Curtis technique are usually permanent.

Q: How many treatments are required in order to achieve those permanent results?

A: This varies. In some cases, only one treatment is required. I had a patient, a man in his seventies, who had had sciatic pain down one leg to the knee for over 15 years, unresponsive to any treatment. He was pain-free and remained pain-free after just one Curtis technique session. However, I have had many cases that required multiple sessions. When a patient is improving, it stands to reason, that you should keep treating until they are well.

Q: Does the Curtis technique work in every case?

A: No. But I estimate it works 90 to 95 percent of the time. I have had my failures, but they have, fortunately, been few. I have also found that in some unresponsive cases, the painful spot below the armpit extended along the rib cage across the front of the chest and that if I worked on the whole area along that rib (usually in the intercostal space) the patient began improving.

Q: What if a patient improves at first and then reaches a plateau where they are no longer improving?

A: I refer you to the above answer. Follow the rib around the front of the chest to the sternum (in some cases on both sides of the rib cage) and work on it.

Q: You mentioned patients with herniated discs. Are you saying the Curtis technique heals herniated discs?

A: All I know is that patients with herniated discs in the lumbar spine respond to this technique as well as any other patient. One of my early experiences with a disc patient was with a close friend who had been injured in a car crash. She had been through chiropractic, physical therapy, and medical pain management with no success. She had had an MRI performed which showed significant disc herniations at L4-L5 and L5-S1. She was in constant pain. As I recall, it took three treatments for her to be completely out of pain and, when I last heard from her, about five years after I treated her, she remained pain-free. (No subsequent MRIs were performed.)

Don’t place limitations on what you can accomplish with this technique.

Q: What is the science behind this technique? How does it work?

A: I DON’T KNOW! I wish I did. I suspect there is a fascial connection. I plan to investigate that.

Q: This technique doesn’t make sense. Do you expect me to believe that pushing on a spot below the armpit can take away low back pain or sciatic pain?

A: No. Nor do I expect you to believe that tiny little organisms, so small you can’t even see them without a microscope can cause disease and even death. (Oh, wait. That one has been proven). What I do expect is open-mindedness. It is unscientific to reject new information just because it doesn’t seem to make sense to you. Remember, I’m not selling this. It’s a gift. And I’m well aware that if this technique did not work, I would look pretty foolish. But, think about this. If what I’m saying is true, the human suffering that could be alleviated if it became common knowledge is incalculable. Don’t you think that is worth investigating?

Now it’s up to you.
