My top five religion based horror movies!
If you’ve been following me for a while then you know that I’m a big horror fan. I grew up watching the Universal monster and Hammer horror films, but recently this got me thinking about how I’ve never discussed religious themed horror movies. So… What better time than now.
One of the most familiar tropes in a horror films is religion. I think that has a lot to do with the basic idea of good vs evil. You have the devil who’s the antagonist against mankind and you have God which is the ultimate symbol of good. These two set up a great foundation for a horror film.

Directed by horror legend Wes Craven this film doesn’t get enough credit. I love the idea of this film being in Haiti and the way that voodoo was showcased in a different type of way. It wasn’t normal zombies like Dawn of the Dead or those traditional types of films.

George C. Scott stars in the third entry to the beloved franchise. Going into this movie I already loved the book Legion which it was based upon. To me it’s a perfect sequel because of its balance between mystery and horror while also delving into religious themes.
