Player Ratings From Inter Miami's Riot vs. the New England Revs

Well, that was something!

Inter Miami continued its 2024 MLS campaign with a 4-1 thrashing over the New England Revolution.

As usual, the Herons started poorly, conceding a goal a few moments into the match.

It’s becoming a laughable habit from this team, honestly. It’s almost as if they just have to let a goal in before shifting into second gear.

It’s not a pattern that the Herons should continue, especially if they’re aiming for MLS Cup. But their attack is so good that in the end, it ultimately doesn’t matter.

With the win, Miami goes top of the Supporters Shield standings and extends their lead in the Eastern Conference.

Here are Player Ratings from Miami’s statement win against the Revs.

  • 🧤 Drake Callendar- 6.3: That first goal was a clear goalkeeping error. Probably should’ve stayed on his line for that one and let his defense do the work for him.

  • 🍝 Franco Negri - 7.2: Steady Eddy. Proving to be a phenomenal replacement for an injured Jordi Alba.

  • 🐻 Nicolás Freire - 7.5: Again, another good game from Nico. Commanded the backline well and is building an excellent repertoire with Toto Avilés.

  • 🦌 Tomas Avilés - 7.4: He’s the most expensive center-back in MLS history for a reason.

  • 🎻 Marcelo Weigandt - 7.3: Good game from ‘Chelo.’ Had his hands full with New England’s Nick Lima and Emmanuel Boateng, but handled it well.

  • 💈 David Ruiz - 8: Every match I see with Ruiz starting in the midfield, I’m impressed with his work rate and technical ability. With Cremaschi fully fit and back from injury, I do expect his minutes to slightly drop a bit, unfortunately.

  • 🧮 Sergio Busquets - 8.3: Inter Miami is truly privileged to have this man in the center of the park to be the calm within the storm.

  • 🥨 Julian Gressel - 7: I don’t know if you guys saw the statistic on Apple TV, but Gressel was the top Inter Miami player in terms of distance ran through portions of the game. Though fans are getting on him, his hustle is imperative to Miami’s midfield.

  • 🐐 Lionel Messi - 10: We are witnessing greatness, lol.

  • 🛎️ Leonardo Campana - 7: Did well to get into the spaces Messi vacated. His goals will come, eventually.

  • 🪽 Robert Taylor - 7.5: Coming back from a hamstring injury and he ran himself ragged. This man will continually give his all for the club.

  • 💪 Benjamin Cremaschi - 7.8: Expect to get more minutes now that he’s fully fit.

  • 🔫 Luis Suárez - 7.5: …….

  • 💉 Matias Rojas - 6.8: Great grit from the Paraguayan to keep the ball in play for the third goal. Think Miami fans will like his playing style once he gets up to full fitness.

“It’s true. We had a typical pre-season. Throughout the league and CCC we had injuries. Now, we have three wins in a row and we’re playing solid every time. We’re reminding ourselves where we are in the table. [Additionally] some players have recovered from injury.”

“At the beginning, we couldn’t find the passes, we were slow. Until the pass from [Taylor to Messi for the first goal,] we started to get more confident.”

“He wasn’t fully fit, no more than 30 minutes for him.”

“He’s [physically] fine. I’m trying to safeguard his minutes. He hasn’t played in a while.”

So, how are you guys feeling? Inter Miami is playing well and looking like potential Supporters Shield contenders at the rate. What’s the vibe? Leave your comments below!
