Reese's Creamy & Crunchy - by Joe's Junk Food
I tried Reese’s new Creamy & Crunchy peanut butter cups. As part of this promotion Reese’s is asking fans to vote on which peanut butter cup they prefer. Reese’s cups are one of my all time favorite candies, so I was excited to give these varieties a try.
I tried the Creamy cup first. Classic Reese’s cups are also made with creamy peanut butter, so I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect.
The peanut butter inside the Creamy Cup was a little gooier than what you’d find in a normal Reese’s, but it wasn’t exactly oozing out like it was on the package. Classic Reese’s peanut butter has a mildly crystalline crunch that comes from confectioners sugar being creamed into the peanut butter. The Creamy Cup lacked that signature texture. That all being said these differences are very subtle, I’m not sure if I would have picked them out if I hadn’t been looking for them, and it’s possible they’re pure placebo.
With Creamy out of the way it was time to move on to Crunchy.
The Crunchy Cup is a lot like the classic cup, but the center is filled with crunchy peanut butter. If that sounds good to you then you’ll probably like this! The flavor profile is quite similar to the classic Reese’s, but the peanuts add a bit of earthiness to go with the crunch. I’m a smooth peanut butter guy so I preferred both the creamy and classic cups, but I appreciate Reese’s trying something different.
Reese’s Crunchy cups are good, but it’s tough to improve on perfection. Reese’s fans seem to agree as Creamy is currently winning every state in the national election. Creamy has my total and complete endorsement, it’s the candy America deserves.
Reese’s Classic (for reference): 5/5
Reese’s Creamy:5/5
Reese’s Crunchy: 4/5
