Review: A Murder At The End Of The World, "Chapter 5: Crypt"

Darby Hart is not doing well. The after-effects of her concussion have sent her reeling more than once—double vision, blurriness, foggy thinking—but she repeatedly ignores the warnings of everyone trying to get her to recuperate. She’s blundered into accusations, pissed off just about all the major players in this drama, and had her life threatened if she doesn’t stop. Then, of course, she doesn’t stop—and her life really gets threatened.

There’s no way the cliffhanger ending is actually the end for Darby, of course. (We’ve got two more episodes!) But just like the intruder suddenly stepping into frame and knocking her out from behind made for a superb jump scare, that poolroom attack was one hell of a kicker. One killer made it clear they didn’t want Darby dead, but either her dogged persistence changed their mind (unlikely—she didn’t exactly do much visible detective work in between the initial assault and her appearance at the pool), or there’s more than one…
