Simplifying 2024 & Our New Year Family Meeting
It’s been said there’s nothing magical about January 1, but to that I say no, no, no! I feel it. Don’t you? I love the hope and the ✨magic✨ of this time of year. It’s the perfect slow time for reflection and planning — full of excitement and anticipation for a fresh start. I don’t feel this way any other time of year, so digging in during these lost days between Christmas and New Year feels perfect. So here we go: looking back, looking ahead, creating structure, and adding joy.
I’m not sure I’ve ever begun a year more determined to proactively MAKE it a fantastic one. Since I told 2023 to kick rocks, I’ve decided to embrace this fresh start with a whole heart full of optimism. I’ve covered my approach to the new year in a variety of ways over the years — bonus blog posts, bonus podcast episodes, but this time, I’m bringing you everything, all at once, in one fell-swoop. This post includes an outline for you to evaluate where you’ve been, look ahead to where you’re going, and truly make this your best year yet. If you own a Simplified Planner, you can follow this outline in your prep-work at the beginning of the planner.
My best tip for completing this exercise successfully is to carve out some time to do this on your own, then do it with your people / person. Find a quiet space and a few minutes, turn down the outside noise, and dig in. Your entire year will be better for it.
Evaluating where you have been is the most important part of planning for the future.
