Ten Rounds with Justin DeTore (Innumerable Forms, Dream Unending, Sumerlands, Solemn Lament)

As it often happens with musicians with a background in punk - go no further than legends, and former The Devil's Mouth alumni, like Greg Mackintosh, Mike IX Williams, Michel Langevin or Noah Landis, for instance, to name but a few -, no matter what styles/genres they end up playing in the future, there's always a certain edge, a certain attitude that remains ingrained, and that can also be said of Justin DeTore, who’s been in many punk/hardcore/oi! (including the awesome Battle Ruins) and even powerviolence projects in the past and currently splits his time between death, doom and heavy metal acts of the highest caliber.

One of those people with many lines of bands and ex-bands beneath their names on music websites (like this, or this), he's been a part of three fantastic albums released in 2022 alone - by Innumerable Forms, Sumerlands and Dream Unending -, each in their own inimitable style. and more music is coming soon by some of those and also other projects of his (such as Solemn Lament, which is revealed during our chat).

In the middle of all this activity, Justin kindly found time to nerd out with us about some of his favourite songs of all time - and his list for the Ten Rounds is unsurprisingly eclectic and seriously awesome. We are also treated to a few other nuggets of wisdom and surprising revelations, like the fact that Innumerable Forms was essentially created as a “worship band”, or to the revelation of which is actually his favourite band and the one he steals the most riffs from, what the best album opener of all time is, who is the best metal singer ever, which is his favourite Black Sabbath song (a “lonely person’s doom song”, as he brilliantly calls it), or even which Innumerable Forms song is actually a sort of hidden version of that Black Sabbath tune. Hey, you might also remember that the other half of Dream Unending is Derrick Vella from Tomb Mold, and Justin has good news about that band too, if you happen to have the good taste of being a fan.

All of that seems like reason enough to jump in immediately and tune into this chat, no? Go on, click here to listen and say hi in the comments!
