The Friday Five! - Sarah Dessen

We had our first freeze here this week. Before the pandemic, I loved my yard, but I didn’t pay too much attention to it, as I was busy traveling and going, going, going. Then everything screeched to a halt and I started spending a lot of time outside. Now I see all the little changes, every day, so it was startling to walk out the other morning and find so much, well, dead. My sunflowers are now all brown and droopy. Our trumpet flowers, shriveled. And each of my fountains were frozen. I am not a fan of fall and winter. I used to want it to be sunny and warm and well, summer, all the time. But the older I get, the more I get that every season is necessary. Ends, beginnings. Over and over again, nature demonstrates this. But now, I am paying attention.

Have a good weekend, everyone!
