The PosCast is Coming to Substack!

Hi, welcome to the new PosCast, which is basically just like the old PosCast. I’m Joe Posnanski and with me is Michael Schur … Michael, welcome.

Weird. I thought he’d just appear on here and answer. He’s probably working through his feelings after the Celtics got blown out Friday night (though he expected it … Mike always expects the worst for his teams).

Anyway, we have a big announcement. OK, that’s a lie. We have a small announcement.

We are bringing the PosCast to Substack!

Now you ask: What the heck does that mean? And like all PosCast things, our answer is basically: We have no idea.

Well, one thing we do know: We do the PosCast for charity. It’s the show’s one redeeming quality. So, here’s our plan: The PosCast remains totally free. If you would just like to keep on listening on your favorite podcast filling station, Apple, Spotify, Audible, whatever, nothing should change.

But if you’d like to help with our mission to do good with nonsense, well, we have some great news for you: The PosCast will be here and you can subscribe! The price for a subscription is $60 annually, but if that’s too steep, well, on our homepage we have a 50% off coupon ($30 annually) and also a 75% off coupon ($15 annually) and if you want we’ll add a 90% off coupon ($6). Obviously, when you’re dealing with charities, ANY amount will help.

Somehow, through our baseball-card opening extravaganzas and various other efforts, the PosCast has donated more than $250,000 to some of our favorite charities, including the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, the Veterans Community Project, Eleanor and Lou Gehrig AL(C)S Center and Project Main Street among others. We’d love to keep that going with your generous help.

Now, you ask: “Well, that’s great but what do I get as a subscriber?” It’s a great question, and as you might expect: We don’t really have much of an answer for that yet. We do know that subscribers will get to participate in our PosCast chat — not only participate in it but actually start discussion threads. So that’s kind of cool. Mike and I might even stop in. In fact, I’ll guarantee that Mike will stop in because he’s not here to say no, and he commits me to stuff all the time.

But we’ll also try to do some fun, cool stuff — maybe have a contest among subs for someone to be a PosCast guest, maybe do a live event or two, maybe offer some baseball cards … plus there’s some stuff in the works that I can’t talk about yet but I’ll just say that I think becoming a subscriber might actually be a really cool thing.

Anyway, we’ll see how this goes. Mike and I recorded a PosCast on Friday and we’ll try to get that one up soon — still working out some technical details, and I think all PosCast fans know just how good we are with technical details. Thanks everybody!
