Everyone wants to prosper.

As Christians, there are different promises that have been made to us.

But there is one important thing that I have learnt over the years as a Christian.

The importance of discipline and work.

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land - Isaiah 1:19

The land already contains good things, there is no scarcity.

But you can be living in the land and die from hunger because you don’t know how to access the good of the land.

Willingness here means a desire to get the right information.

Obedience here means the discipline to act on what you have learned.

Having a solid walk with God is something you most likely desire.

Today I am going to be teaching the Five Core Principles of Christianity.

If you get these Five things right, then you would have a solid walk with God as a Christian.

The five core principles of Christianity are Love, Faith, Fasting, Prayer and Giving.

Let’s examine them one by one

One of the things that should make you stand out as a Christian should be your love for others.

People should be able to know that you are a Christian by just observing your lifestyle and how you treat others.

They should know you by your love.

The kind of love that we are meant to show as Christians is Agape love. The God kind of Love that gives without expecting something in return.

Loving people for who they are and not what they can do for you or what you can get from them.

1st Corinthians 13 shows us 14 ways to love effectively. This is what true loves looks like.

Faith is one thing that really powers your Christian walk.

The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God. So if you must come to God, you must really believe that He is on your side.

In a world where there are a lot of selfishness and self centeredness it is easy to doubt if God is on your side.

Especially when you are facing a lot of trials, but the key to receiving the salvation and redemption that God offers is by believing in him.

God cannot be bribed or wagered with.

You need to believe in him first and not give him conditions or tell him to prove Himself first to you.

He has already done his part by sacrificing His Son.

All you need to do is to accept his love and his covenant for you.

The way to build your faith life is by studying the word of God.

The more of Gods word that you have inside you, the greater your faith becomes.

So commit to studying God’s word daily, make it a part of your daily routine and watch your faith life grow.

Fasting is one of those less popular things to do as a Christian.

But Fasting is actually very powerful and when combined with a study of God’s word goes a long way in supercharging your prayer life.

Fasting is one of the things that you need to make a part of your daily routine as a Christian.

At WordHouse we fast on the first three days of every month and also every Thursdays.

You need to also learn that Fasting goes beyond Food.

You can fast from Social Media, Music and Movies and choose to use that time to study God’s word or any other thing that grows you.

The basis for fasting is denying yourself of pleasures that you might have grown attached to.

Prayer is how you communicate with God.

And as a Young believer one of the Scriptures that fascinated me was 1st Thessalonians 5:17 where Paul instructed that We pray without Ceasing.

It is easy to become so religious and limit the time we talk to God to a particular time of the day.

But anytime is a good time to talk to you Father in heaven.

He is always ready and willing to hear you.

One thing that you need to know is that it is hard to pray effectively if you don’t study God’s word.

Prayer is like a gun, but a good has limited effectiveness with out a bullet.

God’s word is the bullet that makes prayer effective.

So praying with God’s word helps you get answers quickly because it gives you a foothold in the place of the Spirit.

So work on your prayer life, read books on prayer, join prayer sessions with other believers, it goes a long way in charging up your prayer life.

Just like fasting, giving involves denying yourself of things that you may need and choosing to give it to God and others instead.

The truth is that you cannot say you love someone and not want to give to them.

Giving is a proof of Love.

Sending his Son to die for us is one of the greatest proof of Love from God.

Also we have three currencies as human beings and each is equally valuable.

a) You can give Money:

To God - paying tithes,offerings and other forms of seeds.

To Men - Monetary gifts, giving to charity etc

b) You can give Knowledge:

To God - leveraging your knowledge to drive growth for the things of God.

To Men - giving advice, access to information, networks etc.

c) You can give Time:

To God: participating in activities that drive the things of the Kingdom

To Men: giving attention and focus to things that helps others.

These five principles hold the key to your growth as a christian.

I will urge you to review how you are faring as a Chrisitan against how well you have built these five things into your life.

After you complete your review make a commitment to improve in these five things.

A great way is to buy Christian books and also listen to messages that teach on these give things.

With time you will see yourself become better and better at these five things.

I advice that you start with the message on IDENTITY, it would help you understand who you are in Christ first.

Once you understand who you are in christ, building up these five things won’t be hard.
