for once, i understand the mind of trisha paytas. on frenemies, she would often refer to her hobby of hate watching vlog squad content. now, i do not hate the vlog squad. well. i actually was at one point very much into their silly little vlogs, until around 2015/2016 when their political alignments started looking a little red (maga’s version). two of the members are from florida and the rest hail from various mostly northeast states where racism is the main thing keeping them warm during the ice cold winters. their leader david dobrik is an immigrant born in slovakia who emigrated to the united states with his family when he was a little boy. this year he got his green card but before that, he was known as a “dreamer” someone who benefited from the dream (development, relief, and education for alien minors) act that protected daca (deferred action on children arrivals) kids. so it seemed odd that he would align politically with a man that built most of his platform on being anti-immigration, regardless of what part of illinois david grew up in.

and while i could write endlessly about how the true dissolution of the vlog squad began during that time regardless of david not hitting his peak until a couple years later, today we are talking about something much less innocuous. (mostly former) vlog squad member erin gilfoy tied the knot with emo nite creator turned vlogger tj “timothy jimothy” petracca. it was actually supposed to take place in april 2020 but a little something came up in march that made them postpone. they actually went to the courthouse in december of last year, so last month’s festivities were more of a celebration with friends that they had been responsibly postponing for so long!

responsibility is something i, as an eldest daughter, am very familiar with and drawn to. when miss covid showed up last year, the entire country shut down except for like saddle ranch? even when the yeehawest parts of the south took maybe a two week period to try to curb covid, saddle ranch kept her doors swanging open and influencers found their new church. for those of you not suffering from smooth brain syndrome, saddle ranch is a hot spot bar in los angeles for influencers and in 2020 it was Thee hotspot…for covid super spreading. most if not all of the vlog squad found themselves riding the mechanical bull but two members were noticeably absent. duo carly and erin even refrained from filming together for a very long time, taking social distancing and safety precautions very seriously. they did not start filming together in person until march of this year, so naturally erin was not going to be taking any covid risks with her wedding ceremony. much like the met gala being the megaphone emoji of who’s who of the vaccinated, erin and tj’s wedding was hyped as the event where the unvaccinated vlog squad members would reveal themselves as they asked all party goers to be ouchied by faucci. and reveal themselves they did!!!!

because erin was being so cautious during 2020, seeing her besties spitting in tana mongeau’s mouth for the better half of the year caused her to withdraw further away from her former squad. while carly seemed to mend fences quickly, erin was quite vocal about her disgust for people partying the during the height of covid! i am a messy bitch who lives for drama so i was loving her no-fucks attitude to the Man(child) everyone seemed to fear. this was a pre-vaccine and pre-frenemies so she was the sole anti-david voice. i thought she was Free but The Cancellation of David Dobrik earlier this year brought all the sheep back to the fold, as nobody was safe from allegations as every piece of content david had ever made was under scrutiny. but like all “victims” of cancel culture, david was back to business in a couple of months! erin may still follow her old squad on instagram but she definitely is nowhere near as active in their shenanigans, so i was honestly shocked as many of them went to her wedding celebration as they did.
