Weviate Vector Database for AI, Vaunt rewards & Outcaster Platform

This edition of the Voxgig newsletter presents a sample of some very interesting conversations you can choose to listen in on. We have startups, an experienced public speaker from our archives, an established company bootstrapping a new idea and a meetup to report on, so let’s get cracking!
We’ll kick off with Vaunt, an incredibly useful offering for any open source maintainers struggling to reward and grow their community. Ethan Lewis and Simon Cheng are building the startup with the support of their parent company Kochava. The bit that got me excited was the Vaunt allows the project owner to decide what contributions to reward, even little things (which we know are BIG things) like documentation. How great is that?
Vector databases are like buses - nothing for a while, then a queue of them! Well, in this episode I’m joined by the wonderfully wise Sebastian Witalec. Sebastian brings the tech in his explanation of vector databases, and he brings some pretty compelling career advice too! This podcast has it all.
Check out Weviate’s services and learn lots about the latest trend in databases for AI implementations.
We talk to many podcast guests and we, with the support of Contentful, host a monthly meetup, so we know that public speaking is a) not something everyone enjoys and b) is something that you can learn to be better at!
Meet Debbie Forster, listen to her describe her path and mission and take comfort and motivation from her advice and insights. Honesty, you’d be doing yourself a favour if public speaking is in any way part of your role.
And we are back where we started from … rewarding & building community. In this case, Niall Cusack and Outcaster.io have built a platform to enable content creators build progressive apps, curate their content and be a single place for their audience to consume through. You may recognise Niall from his recent and record breaking appearance on Countdown, but I recognise him from the Waterford tech sector, so it was a super bonus for me to be able to record this podcast in an actual studio with a guest!
As we chatted, I saw a real use case for Outcaster for the open source community and for open source project managers; metrics can be the bane of our existence, so Outcaster has a solution for that as Niall explains. Very excited to see this develop.
A big thanks to Maria Ashby and Kelly Moreira for joining us and delivering honest and insightful talks last Wednesday evening. Check out the Dublin DevRel website for their talks early next week.
See you next week for more great voices and guidance.
