What I Find Interesting About the Kate Middleton Photo

My initial video analyzing what the PR strategy of the Kate Middleton photo published Monday by TMZ led to hundreds of comments—some very fired up—about why it was absolutely not Kate in that car with her mother, Carole. I was tagged in countless videos and tweets with ‘evidence’ that this was definitely not Kate. Maybe Pippa. Maybe a body-double. Maybe AI. An old photo. A fake photo. One person rather presumptuously tweeted at me, “I'm going to let you sleep on this. I know you're not going to speak on speculation, but you can ask questions.” This earned a surprised laugh from me because…that’s what I’ve been doing. That’s what I do, but it’s usually in relation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK media coverage.

I ask myself a set of questions when presented with a question, theory, or see something that makes me go, OMGHOWISTHISREAL?! If I’m reacting that way, it’s a sign that I need to do some digging of my own.

Typically the simplest answer to a question is the right one. If I can turn over a question or a statement and find other reasonable conclusions, I’m not going to dive head first into something that feels, to me, far-fetched at the moment. Take, for instance, the truly vile ongoing speculation about Meghan Markle faking her pregnancy and wearing a moon bump.
