Why is this Ocean Ridge man going to the Oscars?

Chad Renfro, an interior designer from Ocean Ridge, is going to the Oscars!

Renfro, who had no prior experience in the movie business, worked as a consulting producer on Best Picture nominee “Killers of the Flower Moon” — that’s his name prominently displayed as the credits roll at the end.

And this Sunday, he’ll accompany Martin Scorsese and other major players in the film crew at the Academy Awards, where the movie is up for 10 different awards.

I spoke to Chad about his role in the film for a story in the latest issue of The Coastal Star, which hit the streets a few days ago.

Click this link to read the story, which explains how he got involved in the ground-breaking movie that stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Best Supporting Actor nominee Robert DeNiro and Best Actress nominee Lily Gladstone.

Whether we’ll get a glimpse of Renfro when the cameras pan the Dolby Theater in Hollywood remains to be seen (no pun intended). But you will see some of his handiwork during the awards ceremony on ABC.

Several Osage Nation members will perform “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)” — nominated for Best Original Song. And Renfro is helping produce the performance.

You can hear the song on this clip:
