Women Hosting Late Night - by Liza Donnelly
Speaking of sleepless nights, the Late Night Talk Shows on network tv will soon have a woman host. Joan Rivers had a short lived talk show in 1986, then Lilly Singh in 2019. Now very soon we will have Taylor Tomlinson hosting the Late Night Show on CBS, after Stephen Colbert’s show. I like to think Colbert had a strong hand in this decision, he is a strong feminist. The idea that a woman can’t be a comedy talk show host—or that no one was good enough— is absurd, and I’ve been waiting for a long time for this. We’ve watched Samantha Bee and Chelsea Handler on cable, to name a few. Glad this is now happening, but it’s almost too late. I am not familiar with Ms. Tomlinson, but will become familar soon!
And here is another cartoon for you. I wish you all a partner/spouse like this woman below, someone who goes the distance. She may not have heard him right, but she did her best to get what she thought he wanted.
It was a hectic day for me in the city. I spoke to college grad students about the biz, and then had a meeting about my documentary. I promise to write more tomorrow.
Have a great Thursday night.
